Victoria Red Concours Wax!!! tried it finally
Victoria Red Concours Wax!!! tried it finally
I've been meaning to try this wax out for a long time. So, I will post my initial thoughts on the product.
I got up at 5:15 to apply this wax to BOTH Marilyn and Tori, before heading to work...so the first set of pics I have for now have no direct sun shots, as the sun was just about to rise. I did a lot of research before blindly applying, so, I used a foam applicator pad, then applied it THINLY... I mean, a light dab only maybe twice per panel. It spread really nice. I did about 2 panels, before removing. It applied quite easily for me. Removal was easy, since I didn't let it dry. Some folks were having problems with removing it...but I believe it's a combo of putting on too much and letting it dry too long.
So I finished the entire car that way... I drove it out to the driveway for some shots. First impressions, it's like a slightly glossier version of Souveran. So...maybe 1/2 way between Souveran and Fuzion???
Overall, it wasn't a look I was blown away by or anything...but maybe I will be later or when I use it again. On Tori's Silver paint, it's very similar to Supernatural.
I do like the strawberry scent tho. Here's the pics... you guys have seen my cars with other LSP's on it. So you tell me....does it look better or same? To me, hard to tell.

So anyways, I am back from our car show. I got a chance to look at Marilyn under some sunlight. The verdict? It has the gloss and depth of Souveran and Fuzion combined, but does not darken paint like Souveran does.... so my flakes were not muted and sticks out more than with Souveran. IMO, it's very similar to Fuzion. It's maybe not as wet looking as Souveran... For those of you who have tried it, what do you think?
I like the wax, but I can't say I love it yet. I might have to use it a few more times to get more used to it. It's just a different look... I love ALL my lsp's.... so, just depends what mood I'm in.
Here's how I see it.
Dark and wet look you're after? Souveran or Petes 53.
Glossy with depth and liquid sheet look? Fuzion or CG Blacklight/V7.
Somewhere in between the two, with depth? Victoria Red.
Did I confuse all of you yet? lol...
So here are some more unedited pics from the car show. You guys judge for yourself if you like the look of Victoria Red.
I had a Boss 302 park next to me, then my buddy's Taurus SHO Ecoboost. That black flake was insane...

Looking amazing, like usual. It's hard to tell the difference on Marilyn, she always looks stunning, but on Tori I feel like it left a wetter look than some of the products I've seen you use before, especially in the last two rear quarter shots. But that might be because I'm used to seeing your cars in HDR, so it's hard to say for sure.
Also, slightly off topic, I took your advice and have chemical guys jetseal and pinnacle sig series II sitting in front of me. I'm about to wash and clay my car then see if I can work up the guts to try paint correction - by hand. haha

1 week update.
Ok.... I am REALLY starting to love this wax. This is after about a week or so. Marilyn got a bath today. And I know it already outlasts Souveran for sure, but it has a distinct look to it. It seems like it has gotten wetter, while at the same time maintaining depth.
This might be my new go-to wax.
I was going to strip her again, and cover her in Fuzion, but I am really enjoying the look. And not only that, I am surprised and impressed that she is still very slick. Souveran loses the look and feel after about 2 days.
Here's some more pics from my post wash tonight. Just a wash. Pics taken around 7 pm or so, and photos are unedited of course.
Sorry the photos are just in my driveway.... but I wasn't going to drive her until I get another layer of Victoria Red on her, maybe tomorrow. You guys be the judge of whether or not you think it looks better than the other waxes marilyn has tried on.
Did I tell you guys how much I LOVE Kona? Lol.... that purple to blue transition is priceless.

You know, if anyone can tell the difference between high end waxes by looking at pictures, well, they've got FAR better eyes than I do! lol
I used Natty's Blue for years as my LSP on dark colors. I recently tried Fuzion on my wife's Race Red '12 & I love it. But I had to look at the car several times over several days, & in different lighting conditions, to really see the difference. On my black '09, however, the difference was much more apparent right off the bat.
There are a few LSP's I'd like to try; Supernatural, Wet Obsession, & now I get to add Victoria Red!

So the differences are VERY minor indeed. But when you are in my level of "detailing insanity", every little 0.1% counts
And so far, Victoria Red is impressive. My next one to try? Swissvax Concorso. But at 350 bucks, that will have to wait....
p.s. I also have/own/tried Nattys Blue paste and liquid. I haven't used it in a year... but I might have to try it again. I like the look of it...but the application and removal left something to be desired. It was not difficult by ANY means at all. Just saying, that compared to Fuzion or Vic Red or Souveran, it requires more effort indeed.
Thanks Dagonz.... I have to agree. It's shinier and glossier, but it also looks much wetter.... and the depth. I am really impressed.
No sir! Absolutely not. Many of the LSPs I own are to be applied by hand, but I never do. I always use a soft mf or foam applicator. My hands have seen a great many abuse... Lifting Weights, tools, racquetball, golf, softball, etc... I have TONS of callouses. There's no way my bare hands are touching my paint. I would scratch the living daylights out of it. I have hard skin. Lol. Not good for soft clear coat.
Thanks much Bill... you know, you give me all these compliments, but I need to see some pics of your Shelby
you will make me drool.
Thanks guys... but yes, definitely add Vic Red to your inventory.
