I have a barn that was converted into a garage. In the winter I will be covering up and storing my 05 there. My one worry is that mice tend to get into the barn and I don't want them going into the engine while it is sitting there. Anyone have any suggestions? Do they make a cover that would wrap around the bottom and prevent things from coming up that way?

Yea, I was thinking about putting traps around the wheels. All joking aside the last thing I need is a mouse nest in my engine when I fire it up next spring. My father's car had mice in the engine one year and it took a lot of work to get it all cleaned out.

I got rats in my '91 Miata one winter. Totally hosed things up.
Now, I set traps, bait, and glue traps at the wheel all winter long (in fact, the temp dipped for the first time last night, so I know what I'm doing this weekend). I'm not going through that again...

Get some sandwich size Ziploc bags with small slits cut in them and put about 5-7 moth ***** in each, place them in the corners of your engine compartment-away from excessive heat sources, of course, this will keep most rodents away.
Hope this helps.

I was reading on the 'net some say to stuff the exhaust pipes with steel wool, to prevent animals from making it a home.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I am just real worried b/c I swept the garage out last night and found a few dead baby mice and I am sure my engine would make a nice home for them this winter.

Ok, I am going to try setting some traps and using the mothballs in some bags around the engine compartment. I think the best thing I can do is also just check on it once a week or so and see if I see any signs of mice.

Hang a mouse on a noose in the entrance ways of the garage....
to warn all other mice what will happen

My vote's for the moth ball's. I've used them in the past and have'nt had a problem with mice. (knock on wood) I acutally lay a peice of plastic on the ground where my car will sit, drive the car onto the plastic and completely litter mothballs under the entire car. You may have to apply them once again before your ready to get her out, but hey, mothballs are cheaper than the damage a mouse can cause. When your ready to get the car out in the spring just roll up the plastic and save it for next year, or throw it away. It makes for easy clean up to. I'll be getin mine ready for her winters nap here shorltly myself.
Good Luck!
