Wow, interesting. Can you elaborate why? I'm curious. Maybe I'll look into one of these instead of a Flex.

yeah it's all in personal preference. Some guys like the griots, some the flex, some all rotary...all depends. I think with proper use of any or all, you can't go wrong. I like my griots DA too... maybe it's just all in feel??? I just prefer my Flex.

btw Marc... I should have put two and two together. You're on autogeek too right? I'm sportscarhiatus on there I have seen you on there for sure...just don't remember the username. And from what I recall of your posts there, you have some stellar turnarounds of the cars you work on. Am very impressed with your work.

The Griot's is the most powerful of the group (PCXP/Griot's/G110v2) and has a lifetime warranty. Compared to the Flex DA, it does have slightly less cutting power, but more than makes up for it by being smaller, lighter, more agile, MUCH smoother, cheaper, with a better ability to finish down (the Flex DA can be used on lower power, but is much more awkward to use on low speed), and is more versatile for applying sealants / pre-wax cleansers like Dodo Juice Lime Prime.
Compared to the rotary, it has less cutting power and isn't as smooth but is much safer, lighter, and more agile to use once more.

I plan on picking up a Dynabrade DA attachment or two soon, and we'll see how that does as thus far they've gotten a lot of praise from the guys I've talked to thus far. From what I know, the Dynabrade+ Meguiar's 101 is the ultimate in quickly cutting through defects. I have a bottle of 101, and if it's half as good as what I've heard, I'll have to try to figure out more ordering from Europe.

True, some guys still use a rotary a lot (guy's in Europe seem to be a lot more loyal to their rotary polishers for example), while some have and use the Flex DA all the time as well. As a whole, I think a lot of good guys are using the smaller DA's as their go-to machines, with the others as back-up, where it used to be the opposite.

Jacob used to be on autogeekonline. I think I have a user name over there, but I don't post there. We would "divide and conquer" so Jacob was on autogeek and bimmerforums while I was on autopia, bimmerpost, and a few others. With Jacob moving back to an auto engineering job, some shady tactics being used by "the geek" in the detailing community coming out, and that site being a DIYer site (low potential to run into people looking for work), I haven't felt the need to join in their discussions. Oddly enough I am on their sister site, autopia-forums, though I don't post there all too much. If you do see me on other sites, I either go by MarcHarris or MuttGrunt (my ethnicity+former occupation).

I'll be picking up a 6" Meg's backing plate here and report back. I also need to replace some pads, so I'll try it with a fresh pad/backing plate and see how things work.
