Matt Stripes Care?

I have Double-Lined Racing Stripes similar to those factory GT500's in Matt Black.

The shop told me to wash them Soap n water but being DD mostly parked out in the sun during the day made them look cloudy/hazy with whitish stuff on them. I then used 'plastic cleaner' from detail supply shop but its getting worse. Now they look like s.hit.

I really like the stripes especially on Mustangs but they might have to go. Is there specific care product made to clean the matt vinyl stripes or do matt ones normally have short life span??

Wow, that does look bad. Where did you get those at so I don't make that mistake? I guess painted is the only way to go on a daily driver? I have an SGM 2014 and was waiting until after I got rims to put stripes on it.

That sucks!
That is exactly what I'm afraid of happening which is why I have not done it!
I'm wonder if it could be fixed?

I've heard about 'back to black(?)' from mothers detail products. Anyone with matt black stripes here? I could really use some advise...

Chemical guys has a matte detailer spray. I was gonna try it when I put my stripes on later this year. http://www.chemicalguys.com/Meticulo...spi_995_16.htm

I don't know Nathan, I tried using 303 on my matte stripes last year and it left residue lines. I've just been using car wax, doesn't leave any residue

I was under the impression that wax left residue.

Would Turtle wax ICE work? I use it on my Boss hood decal every other wash and it has not faded at all.

You may want to look into one of the coating precleaners like carpro erasure, gtechnique spray and wipe, and now optimum has one.

I know you guys are looking for a solution for the decal being unhappy there, but if I might present this...?

HR010 Hot Rod Black.

This is an awesome looking matte/satin black paint that will be just as cleanable as any other paint. I have it on Awesome and all I ever do is just wash it like the rest of her. Can't recommend it enough, it's tough as nails and hasn't faded or blemished. 'bout $100 or less for a kit, and a reputable painter shouldn't have any problem replacing the decal stripes with this.

In case that helps in any way. Good luck whatever your solution(s)!

I drove down to their Gardena location today and got these along with some cleaners. Will report back with result.

No direct experience, though I've heard from other forums that nanolex products are designed for matte finishes.

I used Mother's Back to Black trim cleaner on my California Special stripes and then put Quartz DLux coating on them. It worked very well and water just runs off them now.

Pony, did this get resolved? Im just curious if you were able to bring them back. I swear by Chemical guys products. For anyone reading, do not put wax on matte black. I know it is working for James, but seems to be advised against by most. Chemical guys Hybrid V7 is an amazing product, and used after each wash will offer the UV protection for the matte stripes. Beware, if you are on the east coast, the stuff must come pony (not GT) express. It takes 7-10 days to get your products. If you have a question, call them, they are helpful.

I will have to dig in and really do it to make them perfect but they look 100x better

Whites stripes clean

The the spots that are on the picture of my white racing stripes are a reflection of the clouds in the sky
and you don’t have to worry about hitting the paint because you can do the whole outside of your car
