Anyone know how to remove a scratch from glass?

One of the wifes rings scratched the heck out of the passenger door glass and I want to get the scratch out before I get the car tinted. Any suggestions?

get the glass shop to heat the glass and they should be able to fix the glass, or try the stuff some people use to clean and repare glasses

Any glass shop that will do that is not a glass shop I would use EVER. You can't heat glass to get scratches out. Especially tempered glass. They can however use a clear resin to fill the scratch in just like they do to repair windshield bullseyes. If it were me I would just replace the glass. Then again not everyone has access to glass at cost or less.

Cerium oxide paste with a high speed buffer will remove most surface scratches in windows...HOWEVER, let a professional do the job...talk to a glass place...never have it done on the windshield... I know that from experience. Back on my '95 Stang I had some minor "spider web thin scratches" in my line of vision and I had a guy "buff" them out with cerium oxide paste for about $60. The scratches came out alright, and it wasn't until after paid him and he left that I noticed the area where he buffed had some distortion in the glass and objects down the road took on some funny shapes! I ended up having to replace my windshield (a $300 plus lesson learned).

UPDATE -- I had a local windshield repair shop use the Glasweld system and it worked! They removed a 4 inch hairline scratch in my windshield (in my field of vision) with no distortion in the glass...the key is to keep the buffer cooled with plenty of water and Glasweld system does that (or it can be done manually)...check around and call places that offer windshield repair and ask them if they have the system.

This may sound crazy, but I've successfully removed scratches from glass with tartar control toothpaste. It's just gritty enough to do the job. Sounds farfetched, I know, as I was skeptical when someone first told me about it, but it works.

+1 It works as long as the scratch isn't too deep. If you can catch your fingernail in it, it's probably too deep to buff out.
