How often to clay?

Hey guys,

Just bought a new Boss about 6 weeks ago. She is a daily driver up here in the Pacific NW, and I wash her often. I scanned through about 6 pages of posts using "clay bar" in the search function, looking for opinions on how often to clay the car. From what I read, about every 6 months for an often driven car seems the norm.

Any differing opinions on how often to clay? The car sees a bit of rain, but there isn't much salt used up here, since it rarely snows.

Thanks guys.

Jason

It depends on where you live. In Modesto here we have the distinction of being #5 on the top 10 worst cities for air quality. I do mine about once every three months.

Just wash and dry the car well and put your hand in a plastic bag. Gently swipe it across the paint on the hood or top and if it drags or feels a bit rough - time to clay.

Hope that helps!

Thanks guys. Air quality here is pretty good (one of the many things about living in a rain forest).

Just wasn't sure if it would need it more often since it is out and about daily.

Back when I cared about my paint I did mine twice a year.

Use a clay bar once a year, every 6 months would be fine. Just wax it every other month.
