Hit a curb, scaped the wheel...fixed it.

Well, it was bound to happen, better a wheel than a fender. She made a U-turn and scraped a bullitt on the concrete. OUCH it looked bad. First Boo-Boo. I thought long and hard and finally decided to tackle it with the dremel tool.
Very carefully I used a sanding drum to take out the scrapes. I am very pleased with the results. Unless you get on your knees and run your fingers across it you really cannot see it. Here's the before and afters:

Nice job.
I notice that you have left that little sticker on your wheel(s). At least it looks like it's still there.
I have had my car almost a month and have not removed mine yet.
Thanks for reminding me. I am going to do it today.
BTW. The spinners look great!

Once I had all of the marks out, I used some fine sandpaper by hand to give it the finer "machined" finish. Then I went to a piece of Scotchbrite by hand until the finish was a close match.
it definately is not "perfect" as there are some ripples but you really cannot see it unless you get down and examine the wheel.
Here is another picture close-up. I actually taped it off again and did a little more work after this picture and then took the one posted at the top of the thread.

I went to O'Reillys and they gave me a tiny bottle of something called Goo Gone to take off the sticker. It was safe on the aluminum and worked like a charm. It was only a couple of bucks.

I did the same thing. It looked EXACTLY the same as well! (same length etc). Used a dremel to grind it smooth and polish it back up. I'm glad the rim wasn't painted that's for sure

The wheels are clear-coated aren't they? If you don't cover that aluminum back up they are going to corrode in a couple years.
Nice repair though, and I like the spinners!

A touch with some ScotchBrite will take any oxidation off down the road. I guess you could spray some clearcoat on but I won't bother. Besides, the damage from the curb ruined the coating as well.
One thing to consider, the sanded area will react differently to various wheel cleaners. Make sure you use wheel cleaners suited for "All Wheels" to avoid serious etching of bare aluminum.
All in all, it's still better than it was.

Don't be afraid to read the link I posted....I used krylon clearcoat on mine after I got the desired results. So far it has held up fine. I only use my zaino car wash to wash the car and wheels.....

I used my dremel on mine on Friday during lunch, it has definitely made a nice improvement. I still need to work on it a bit more, no big deal. Once I get it looking good again I'll clear it.

I'll have to give that a try on my right front. I scraped it on a curb at a bank drive-thru.
