First off, all you Prius haters out there, remember that this is my wife's and just for a moment, close your eyes and pretend it's a mustang (like mine) and focus on the fantastic paint on it hahahahahaha

Anyways, finally got a chance to do a full correction on Portia. Dealer had some scratches/swirls on it, but nothing too major. Was only sitting on lot for a couple of months, but amazing what dumb dealer detailers can do to a car.

My process was as follows:

1) Wash/dry - 2 bucket grit guard, with lambskin mitts, then
  • Chemical Guys (CG) Honeydew
  • Optimum No Rinse (ONR)
  • wheels cleaned with Optimum Power Clean/Daytona and boars brush
and dried with CG V7, and leaf blower
2) Clayed with Sonax clay (this stuff is just "ok"... a little bit harder than pinnacle clay. Left some minor marring.)
3) Using Flex 3401, corrected with white CCS pad using Menzerna Power Finish
4) then gray CCS pad using Menz Super Finish
5) then applied CG Blacklight
6) then applied 4Star Ultimate Paint Protection (UPP)
7) then applied Dodo Juice Supernatural.

Overall time invested, 10 hours.

Here are the results. MARCHARRIS, let me know your thoughts too sir.

Enjoy.

It looks good...

...but...

It's going to look better after the first wash believe it or not. Take more pics in a week after you've given her one gentle bath, and look at the clarity of the finish then

Supernatural always looks better after a wash: especially if it's put on over another product (like blacklight let alone blcklight and UPP).

Don't get me wrong: she looks AMAZING!

In a week after a wash, she'll give you the result I like to refer to as "Photoshopped in real life" when you look at it.

Did you do half the work one day, then finish the rest the next? If so, at which step did you stop at on the first day? Also, would any of these products hurt vinyl?

Thanks very much guys. I agree about the color. How does it compare to kona and DIB? Hmmm it's lighter than DIB, and with no red flakes, but still metallic.

Marc, I appreciate the kind words. I will have to do a report back after she gets washed. It's actually raining today, so will get to wash it this weekend.

I did claying at some other time last week. Then in between regular washes. I don't have the luxury of time like I once did. I love my wife's reaction when she sees it. That is more than patent enough

You better not park that near a diving board... the paint looks deep enough to dive into!

Outstanding work!

That car looks fantastic, I don't think you need any suggestions....I wouldn't change a thing....except maybe a supercharger for the Prius..

Things are good.. went to Aruba with my wife for a week of R&R, , had my grandson's first birthday party at the Casa DaGonz (due to rain, it was held in my garage.. I could open up a toy store with all the gifts he got! ) and I have my first detail of the year setup for 05/27, a black 2006 Mustang for a retired Mass State Trooper.

Paint correction is doing a multiple step detailing procedure to wash the vehicle, claying the vehicle's paintwork to remove bonded contaminants, buffing the paint to remove swirls and RIDS (random isolated deep scratches), then polishing and protecting the paintwork.

No worries. Just think of it as fixing the paint to look like it was designed to look. Paint that is flawed is "corrected" so that it looks the way it did when it left the paint booth at the factory.
