engine cleaning

Can I just spray water directly on the engine and clean or how do I go about cleaning the engine?

no, first cover things like the Fuse Box, alternator, battery, and the air intake with a plastic bag so they dont get wet, then you can use something like Meguiars Safe Degreaser or Simple Green also works. Just spray liberally on the rest of the engine, let it sit a bit for about 30secs and agitate where needed. Then rinse off with water. Dry and dress and polish where needed.

And use a leaf blower to dry things out....Quick and very effective. I use it after I wash my car, engine or MC.
