I'm planning on doing my first claying and Zaino application tomorrow on my new Mustang which has the white bodyside tape (see pic). Has anyone detailed a car with tape before?? I imagine I can apply the sealant (Zaino polishes Z5 and Z2) over top to provide a layer of protection to the tape, but can I (should I) clay it as well?? If I shouldn't clay it, should I attempt to clay the paint surfaces in between the tape?

 

You don't want to clay over the stripes, but go ahead and Zaino them. I would clay between them if possible. Enjoy the Zaino!!

 

I clayed over my stripes without any problems! I just made sure not to run the clay across the stripe perpendicular.

 

I can't see how claying over the stripes would hurt them. You don't need to push hard with the clay and if you don't you shouldn't damage the tape.
