I recently purchased my 2005 Mustang and I was wondering what types of waxes people are using. Carnauba or polymer? I know the manual says that you should use polymer, but I have heard good things about pure waxes. I just picked up some Meguiars NXT Tech wax, protectant, and cleaner.

Go with Zaino, I've heard that they are the best. I have a kit on order.

www.zainobros.com

Check out their customer testimonials. They have some amazing pictures.

Meguiar's and Zaino's are the best, Meguiar's is easier to buy, you can find it at most autoparts stores and places like Walmart. I think you have to order Zaino's and have it delivered. I have seen outstanding results from both and can't really recommend one over the other, can't really go wrong either way.

You probably don't want to use a carnuba wax. They are really only for show cars. They don't provide a whole lot of protection and they only last about a month, especially if you are is in the sun during the day, the carnuba will melt and break down removing all the protection.

For long lasting, you want a sealant. Zaino is sealant, and it is a good choice because if is fairly easy to use. There are lots of good high end ones out there like Klasse, Menzerna, Sovereign etc. Most can be purchased online. But as far as store bought ones go, I guess Meguiar's is your best choice. And NXT is one of their best right now.

Here is a sample of what you can get with Meguiar's. This is SurfnSoCal's Black GT.

Meguiar's is a very good choice and so is One Grand. The important thing to remember is to never do it in the sun, and always use 3 steps products.

Step 1 : Deoxydize the paint
Step 2 : Glaze it
Step 3 : Wax

It does take more time than cheaper waxes that can do (???) it all in one shot but everybody on your street will notice.

Have fun

John

The Meguires NXT products are about 1/4 the price of Zaino are they not?

Anyone seen both? How much better is Zaino than NXT?

I'm probably going to get the Zaino kit, but I was wondering.

Badandy - another user of Mothers Clay Bar!! That is the best I have found for truly cleaning a cars finish - better than a good buff even!! Lifts/removes the surface contaminants and leaves a "baby's butt" smooth finish! I clay bar all of my vehicles every 6 mos or so. If anyone doesn't believe me - just try it and see all the dirt that the clay bar picks up

I heard it wasn't a good idea to mix and match different brands, sometimes they may react with one another and create a haze on your paint. Just ordered the Meguiars clay bar, couldn't find any at any of the local stores.

I have put three coats of Meguires NXT wax on my ride. Awesome product, easy to use.

I have a Redfire GT and after three waxes the color seems a little deeper.

Love the wax.

Hey swingle - I use Meguiers products and not sure I've noticed the "NXT" - what does it's packaging look like - typical Meguiers maroon bottle?

I have seen "NXT" at Target and Meijer stores. It is a purplish bottle and costs about $15. I have Meguiers Gold on mine now but will go with NXT next time.
