Black dust on bumper

Hi all,
I picked up my Oxford White, 2014 GT premium last night. I drove it around this morning and notice soft black dust on the side of the front bumper (mostly) behind the tires/wheel. Is this brake dust? Should I get mud guards or is this some defect? How can I prevent this in the future without having to wipe it down every time I drive it?

I have a black '14 GT and I've not noticed it as much for obvious reasons. Even my rims aren't too bad. I am sure it is brake dust though. What else could it be? Doesn't your car already haves little factory flaps in the back? I wouldn't put mud flaps on it personally. Drive it around longer before deciding; it could have been anything.

The strange part is that there is not much on the rims. It must just be brake dust kicking up to the bumper. Can this be normal? How long should I wait?

Its probably somethin kicked up from the road. Brake dust is a more brown color. Starts light and gets darker as time builds up. Plus it would get on your first before anything. In fact it really shouldnt be gettin onto your paint at all.

Spark, it's probably just dust, and dirt from the road. Mine's the same way. It also gets on my plastic car.

Depending on how much they put on the tires at delivery, it's probably tire shine. Sometimes I put too much on my tires, it slings off and leaves black spots on the car.

The plastic parts are dust magnets. Plastic may build a static charge and attract the dust.

Probably tire shine. I get it on my white truck frequently. Recently I have started taking a dirty rag or towel after applying tire shine and removing as much of the excess as possible. Tire still shines but does not collect on the paint. A higher quality tire shine is best too...

It's not tire shine, it's road dust.

As a previous (5-year) owner of a Performance White '07 GT, you'll be battling brake dust constantly, if you are as picky as I am. Little black specs down the side of your car and all over the back of it too. I finally got tired of washing it off and resorted to dusting her off between washes. The occasional road tar and/or hard grease (from semi trucks) streaked down the side of your car from Interstate highways will **** you off too. Not to mention the orange/brown rotor rust that coats the inside of your wheels. Just a few of the problems of owning a bright white car with wheels you can see through.

American Muscle sells front splash guards that look just like the rear set and look stock. they help greatly with road dust.

They serve the purpose but I wouldn't say they are same as the rear ones. Wht I got was much thin plastic n not as good quality as stock IMHO.

My guess would be brake dust. I had a horrible issue with it on my Corvette. Every time I drove it, I had to wipe it down. And yes, the rear of the GT is a dust magnet. Put a good coat of wax on it and just shoot some Quick Detailer on it when you get home and wipe it away.
