Hi,

As my car is due to arrive at the dealers lot any day now I've been checking out how much insurance will be. Guess I should have thought about this before I decided to buy.

My usual broker has just quoted me £1650 fully comp for the year, how does that stack up with any of you guys who are running an '05 in the UK.

BTW insurer is Norwich Union.

Thanks in advance.

Gary,

Do not go through a mainstram insurer if you have an american car! there are a few insurers who specialise in Americans :

MCE Insurance These are the guys I use. I pay £438 fully comp on a 2000 convertable.

Others to try are

Adrian Flux Insurance

Hill House Hammond

They all use top underwriters (mine is Zurich), so cover is not compromised at all.

Hope this helps

James

Well HHH is now Norwich Union, MCE promised to come back with a quote but never did.

Adrian Flux I haven't contacted yet.

I should add that my quote does include business use.

How about you GW2000, any decent quotes ?

I have been quoted approx £1100 by Direct Line, however, I need to check with them as they wanted it to have a CAT1 alarm. The GT is not CAT1 cert, but I guess it must match up. I think I am going to stay with them at the mo, as I am in a new contract with my existing car and I don't want to have to pay more in the move.

I too intend to drive the car on business. The only thing extra I need to get is breakdown assist, as the current car has that as part of the warranty. Looking at an extra £200.

I have been told to try Tesco as they do imports now. I did have a list of other insurers from my dealer, I will have to get another copy. I will post it up once I have it.

I have tried Adrian Flux this morning. They were not able to cover the car, the reason being that they will not cover anything with a value over £25k and with business use.

I'm guessing that's why MCE never came back to me.

BTW Norwich Union did not require any alarm mods.

Gary, if you are importing this yourself, it shouldn't be more than £25k anyway.....

In the end I have gone with MCE. Still the same price as DL, however, it does include homestart and roadside recovery which is nice. DL wanted the alarm to be CAT1, however, MCE said it was okay. Thanks for the tip James.

One week til I finally get my hands on my GT, the day keep slipping but it should be by Friday next week....here's hoping.

I live in Hampshire, but originally from Rochdale, Lancs. I thought that there was a importer in Manchester that would convert a Mustang to RHD.

Went with Adrian Flux in the end. Quote was for £768, not using any of my NCB and taking into account an accident my wife had in March 2003.

7500 miles a year but no business use.

There is, but at £30k for the LHD, I'm not interested!
