Would you rather have a 2008 GT or 2013 V6?

I currently have a 2013 V6 with a little over 30k. I owe about $13k on the loan. I've got a few mods so my stand stands out from the rest. Wheels, spoiler, stripes, exhaust, etc. I've been debating on moving to a GT. I can afford the new one but don't want to pay for it.

I went to the ford dealership and they have a 2008 GT premium that they have been trying to get rid of for $12.5k. Has about 70k and is bone stock. It was serviced at the dealership as well and they guy traded up to a new GT.

They'll give me $16k for my trade in as is or $15.2 if I keep the wheels. Would you guys make the trade? I'd still owe about $10k after title and tags.

Here's my car as it stands...

You guys know what a stock GT looks like.

keep the v6. The GT wouldn't be that much faster and would lack the warranty you currently have.

I'd keep what you have. You have personalized it to your liking and its five going on six model years newer. As far as power goes I don't think you'd feel much of a difference. I guess it'd be a personal preference but I like what you have done to yours!!!

I agree with the previous posts. I would keep what you have. When I make a change, I try to figure out what I get for what I spend. I think the only real advantage you would gain would be sound. The gt will sound better. Is that worth all the other sacrifices? I don't think it is.

Keep your present car. You still have a warranty and a lot less miles.

I can't understand why you would even consider this.. maybe with a new GT, or even a 2011+ GT, but a 2008? Wouldn't you lose horsepower, and just gain some torque? (40lb-ft) and thats it lol. I guess its a V8, thats always nice, but the 2013 v6 is also very nice. I wanted a GT too but I'd never trade my v6 for a GT any older than 2011. Plus IMO the 2011+ mustangs look way better than the older versions

Keep the v6. Maybe later you can get a 2011-2014 GT a lot cheaper if people fall in love with the 2015+.

Maybe he's tired of the Shelby imposter look compared to the S197 original. Maybe he wants the V8 symphony. For all the bragging about the V6, look at how the value has dropped so fast compared to an 08 GT.
Plus as has been discussed on other threads, the GT's driveline is beefed up over the V6.
Just a personal decision.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Definitely thr sound of the GT is a big factor. Also to get away from the "oh, it's a V6" feedback all us with V6 mustangs hear when so done asks us about our car.

It's also fun to take on new projects. We all have that excitement when we are shopping for new parts and accessories. Haven't done anything to the car for awhile now.

You've done so much with the V6. It looks very nice. I would keep it. But if you really want a GT, I would go for a new one. 5.0 420 hp. It is one very sweet ride. I'm glad I got the GT this year than in 07 when I got my V6.

I see you have Roush Axel backs. I am interested in these. Any drone with them?

got nothing against upgrading. what i meant was referring specifically to trading a '13 v6 for '08 gt. from '08 v6 to '08 GT makes sense. '13 v6 to '11+ GT makes sense. but '13 v6 to '08 GT? i guess if the person reeally reeeally liked that body style but then why get the v6 at all? idk
also, not sure what you mean about the value dropping, according to the numbers he gave, his car is still worth around $29000.

true no way to get the sound of the GT on a v6. though its not like its the worst either, last time i was driving around with a guy with a '11 GT, and GT500 ab's, it sounded awesome. all i had was the borla-s on my v6, but he said it sounded really good, and could even hear them over his car. of course still wont sound like a GT, but GT's dont sound like the Ford GT, and that doesnt sound like some other faster car, and those dont sound like a rocket ship, and so on and so forth lol

as for that feedback bs, i dont get it much. might depend on where you live. around here so far most people have been pretty cool, theyre mainly just happy to find another person that likes mustangs, or that just likes cars in general. like that GT guy. i had no idea who he is lol. we talked for a while then went for a mini canyon run. really though who gives a crap what they say, i mean you got the v6 for a reason. im guessing at some point you were happy with it so you bought it. i say just appreciate it for what it is, not what its not. again same goes for the GT's with the GT500's, etc. maybe the only one thats got everyone beat is the Boss 302's lol. plus theres no guarantee the newer GT guys wont say something like "oh its an older GT". who knows if they may even make fun of it for being closer to the new v6's and then still say "oh its a v6" just to bug you lol. not worth paying to the bs

new projects are nice, but im sure theres still some stuff to be done with your car. seems like you got the money to throw around, get some suspension changes or something. you can enjoy the car then upgrade later.
or just pay the money for a new GT or 11+ GT. i mean you said whoever used to own the 08 GT got rid of it for a newer GT.

throwing out options since you asked the forum. Im just sayin if you're thinking about upgrading or changing to it do it for the right reasons, not bs like "oh its a v6". really think its a bad idea to go from '13 v6 to '08 GT unless you absolutely love the body style and/or can't afford a newer GT and must have a V8.

ultimately though, like that guy said, its up to you.

A ton of people don't like the rounded butt/slanted taillights/huge bumper cover from '10 forward, nor the 'everybody has a shelby now' front end on the 13,14.
Plus the V6 doesn't have a lot of room to go. The 4.6 has proven itself very durable up to 475 and has the driveline to handle it. So if he's thinking modding, that's another consideration.

Oops. I mis-read the numbers.

doesnt seem like he's one of the people that doesnt like the newer design, since he bought it. i see what you mean though.
thats pretty good for the 4.6, but i imagine that wouldnt come cheap(475hp). whereas with a newer GT, you start off with 420. but i dont know how much it would cost to get the 4.6 to coyote levels. one of his reasons was new projects, and there's definitely way more to mod for the older stangs than the newer ones. that's another consideration, not just higher HP, but the fun getting there

Keep it. The 3.7 is no slouch and to trade it for an 08 GT is not an upgrade imo. Especially one with 70K. You already have a nice '13, keep it!

I would take the GT, no doubt. I prefer the '05-09 body style, plus I still don't see the point in buying a car like a Mustang if it's not a V8. And yes I know the new V6's have 300+ HP, but I'll take 300 HP out of the V8 GT everyday of the week instead.

I agree!! I'd only trade for if you were getting something better or more HP!!!

I drove a 2011 V6 AT rental before I bought my 05 GT. I have to say that 2011 was significantly quicker than my 05 GT, that is, before CAI and Tune.

I don't know if they put more sound dampening material in the 2008s but I hear much more road noise in my 2005 GT than I have when I've test drove 2011s and newer.

Like I said, I'd keep what you have unless you get something better...
