I have always liked Mustangs. I guess it was something that was always around. Muscle cars is what I grew up on. My dad had a 70 and 71 Mach 1. When he turned 30 my mom bought him a 74 Firebird with a 455 in it that we wrenched on for about 8 years. I learned how to drive in that car. The first car I had ever purchased on my own was an 89 Escort GT. That was a fun car to drive when I first joined the Army in 1994. Sometimes I wish I still had it. I have always loved old VW's too. My dad used to work for VW in the 70's and I would visit him in the garage and sit in the cars when he put them up on lifts. I bought a 1960 VW Bug in 03 and redid everything but paint, interior, and suspension. I sadly sold that before I went to Afghanistan the first time. I ended up with a Kia hatchback when I returned. I drove the crap out of that and modded it the best I could considering it was a Kia. It had a killer sound system in it. I got bored and felt like I had earned the car that I could have tons of fun in so I let go of the Kia and bought a bright red 08 BMW Z4 convertible that I had a blast in. I needed more room so I traded that in and got a 2010 Mercedes C300 with a six speed manual. Solid car but definitely not fun, even with the manual. I had looked at the Mustang GT in 07 in between deployments and just never pulled the trigger. My wife knew I really wanted a muscle car since she knew I grew up driving them. When the new 5.0's came out and the new body styling I was hooked. I waited to see if there was a way to get the stuff I really was going to put on the car anyway straight from the factory with a warranty and I couldn't unless I got the Boss or the Shelby. At the time it wasn't in my price bracket so I waited.

Last year I saw the new styling for 2013 and the new options (Track Package and Recaro seats) and knew instantly that I was going to buy one. I found out that I was headed to Germany for a few years and didn't really want to take sand to the beach. E class Mercedes wagons are taxis over here. I traded the Benz in and got the exact car that I had always been waiting for that was built with the stuff that was important to me for what I love to do, drive and drive fast. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can stretch her legs on the Autobahn to see if I can hit that speed limiter legally. My wife loves my car I think as much as I do. Although she named her "The Mistress" because I spend so much time rubbing her down and tucking her in bed at night in the garage. I plan on keeping this car forever. This is my retirement car. I'm 37 and can retire from the military in 17 months if I so choose. I'm pretty sure I won't but I plan on having tons of years of enjoyment to come in the Mustang.

Now in my 40's with a wife + 2 boys and still love the stangs..
My first car was this 83 Fox Name: File0008.jpg

I enjoyed this car so much I kept it for 23 years. When I finally sold it she had a 351 stroker/200 Nos/8 point cage/custom paint/stereo, etc... It was 23 years of pure fun!

Now during the time I had the fox I also owned several different types of cars, Vetts/TT G35/Pontiac GTP/ just to name a few. But that fox was always my #1 car for having fun. I'm on my 5th Stang now and out of all my prior cars, I enjoy the Stangs the most. Something about how easy it is to mod them and just the overall package is great.

I do find myself spending more $$$ these days for my toys. But with all the great choices available (Almost got a 13/GTR), I went with another GT500 and I'm sure I'll have no regrets..... My 10 and 6 year old boys love going to car shows/meets with me, they always tell me how most of the attention at these meets are towards the stangs... kinda cool..

I am 39 and this is my second mustang. When I was sixteen, my sister sold me her 1967 California special. It was not in running condition. I spent the next several years trying to fix it and mostly only making it worse. In my mid twenties, I finally started making reasonable money and getting actually craftsmen to do the repairs I had botched. Then my wife, at the time, got pregnant. There would be no "extra " project money. I sold the car back to my sister and bought a motorcycle in cash from the proceeds. I still have the 2005 Honda CBR600rr but it wasn't a mustang.

I had wanted a mustang even through my teen years but my father wouldn't allow it. The California special I bought from my sister had been his. He bought a mustang II afterwards and it never ran well. He bought a 79 Cadillac Seville after and it ran worse. He swore off all American cars after only buying American cars for a decade. He said no one that lived under his roof would buy an American car. I kind of liked roofs back then.

When my ex wife asked for a divorce, I was finishing my teaching credential and unemployed. My ex would never "let me" buy a mustang even though I had wanted a newer one forever. After the divorce and my first paycheck from my teaching job, I drove out from the Los Angeles area to San Diego to pick up my stang.

I guess my stang is a reclaiming of my first lost love that I was forced to sell. It's also my midlife crisis on a budget, new job celebration, and happy divorce present. People say no one thing is all things to all people. My mustang is pretty close to all things for me.

I'm 27 and this is my 2nd mustang...

First car was a hand-me-down Mazda Millenia (S model w/ Supercharger) that when finally broke down, I received a '03 V6 Mustang w/ Pony Package when graduating HS.

Went back 'cuz I missed the community + camaraderie but most of all I missed the simplicity of the car in its mission.

Here's my story.

My Grandfather always drove Ford, My father drives nothing but Ford (He is 76). I grew up as a kid watching my father watch Nascar and pulling for the Ford's back in the days of David Pearson.

And when I was about 8 years old in 1968 my dad was in business with a guy who had a 1966 Red Mustang coupe and he would go out and make deliveries to customers in that Mustang and sometimes I would ride with him and I can remember he would play his country music really loud and have the windows down in that Mustang in the summer and I said right then and there, when I am old enough I will own a Mustang. I have since been driving Ford and most important Mustang's since 1977 when I bought my 1st one which was a 1977 Mustang Cobra II with a 6cyl with a stick shift and it had solid lifters and ticked like a sewing machine but I loved that Mustang and wonder whatever happened to it to this day.

I had a recent slip but I came back as quickly as I could after realizing my mistake and wont make the same mistake twice!

Her's. At age 55 the Wifey said she was tired of driving Crown Vics, and Grand Marquis'. Said she wanted a sports car before she was to old to get in, and off of one. She looked at the Camaro, wasn't impressed. Went to the Ford dealer, drove the Mustang, and said this is the one. She ordered a Grabber Blue 2010 GT Coupe. Two years later, said she wished she had bought a Vert. I told it's never to late, and that we can't take it with us. This is what she ordered. Your never too old.......

well im 45 and here is why i bought a mustang

https://themustangsource.com/f650/bo...onvert-519653/

and trust me if i didnt really like the car i would not have got one.

i had an 86 lx 4cyl 4 speed i bought once, biggest pos i ever owned. i told my self back then never buy another mustang.

ive had a 72 rs camaro, 78 z28, 83 berlinetta, 86 iroc, and a 68 camaro coupe which i had for 15 yrs and three different motors. so you can see i am/was a camaro guy. i also had a 69 nova, a 69 chevelle, a 60 biscayne, 3 different pontiac grand prixs including a gtp, a handful of el caminos from 64-72, and a few quite a few chevy trucks, so yeah i guess i am/was a bowtie fan.

i had bought my dads old truck a 97 f150, before he traded it in on a new 02 super crew. i drove it until 07 and i traded it in on a new silverado. it had 235k miles on the 4.6ltr motor and had no major problems. my dads 02 has 5.4ltr and now has 150k and has nothing more than an idler pulley and a new battery.

the 07 silverado i had i was excited about, nice almost new truck, had 8k miles on it when i got it. crew cab Z71 4x4 LTZ trim really nice truck.
but at 75k miles i had a body control module failure repaired at my cost as warranty was only till 60k on eletronics. after that it was down hill. random glitches, in and out of the dealer until i finally said hell with this and traded it in on a new toyota suv for the wife.

i took her toyota avalon but it wasnt long before i decided this aint gonna work, and started looking for my next car.

as the story i wrote before i looked and drove about everything available in my area and decided on this mustang.

yesterday i got a cai and a bama tuner and holy hell this thing is quick, im like it more everytime drive it.

i think this car might change my mind about ford and hey i might even root for carl edwards in nascar now and then......ehhhh maybe not jimmie johnson and his team are still the best nascar team of the modern era.

would you guys be upset if i put a 48 sticker on my mustang? lol.

anyway, after letting my hardcore import fan son drive my mustang on a date last night, hes thinking he needs to trade his infiniti g35 in on a new 5.0. lol......might be changing his mind too.....

Great thread! I was about to start one like this tonight.
How I came about the Mustang is I LOVE the looks. I traded in my '99 Hugger Orange SS in for a 2013 Mustang Roush Stage 3. (Still awaiting her arrival) I love the looks of the Mustang, the interior, the colors and the performance. Don't get me wrong, the LS3 is a pretty nasty engine and responds well, but so doesn't the 5.0.
I used to be a GM fanboy, but I do not like the looks of the 5th Camaro. I tried, but it didn't work. LOL
PLUS,....that GOTTA HAVE IT GREEN color is just awesome.
