Why do other Mustang owners hate us in the '05's..
I have a 90 GT HB 5.0 (Cardinal Red) still pretty fast and a 05 V6. What's weird is when I drive the 90 I hate the 05's on the road and when I drive my 05 I hate earlier Mustangs. I'm probably schizophrenic and planning on going into therapy soon.

On a serious note, I've crossed path with a few '05 V6 and GT owners. I never showoff and have offered nothing but compliments, deservingly so. In return, each and every single one of them either compared or degraded what I drive, and that's fine, but then, who is the snob?
Where's a Camaro when you need one?

The whole idea with the 79+ fox stangs style was to make it look fresh, new, aerodynamic and european. The escort was originaly a european for car to begin with. But the car lost its identity along the way and looked nothing like the 64. The 79+ stangs have flush headlights no stang in the grill, no side scoops, not even three element tailights! That was one stang that Ford HAD to put big MUSTANG script on so people could tell it wasn't a Ford EXP or Escort!

It's called camaraderie!!!!!!!!! Since your Mamma is a Jeeper you should know that Jeepers are some of the most friendly, courteous, helpful people on the road these days and they will go out of their way to help folks . . . even if the person needing assistance isn't in a Jeep.
I disagree with people owning older Mustangs being jealous. I just think some people are jerks plain and simple. I've passed by people driving SN95's and waved and got nothing and then there are others that wave back. I wave to anybody driving a Mustang I pass regardless if its a 64 1/2 - 73, a II, a Fox chassis, an SN95, or aS197. If I get a wave cool! If not oh well, no big deal.
I think the reason that some older mustang drivers may not be friendly to 05 mustang drivers, is just human nature. Jealously or insecurity.
"You've got a newer car than me. That makes me feel jealous/insecure, I therefore must be rude or not acknowledge you, so that you won't have one over on me"
For example: When I'm driving my 96 GT and I see an 05 owner I give them the finger, scream "I hate you" and think, "Don't they know that I could buy a 05 too. Who do they think they are making my car look so old and out of date"

Here's your scenerio in reverse:
"You've got a Mustang older than mine. That makes me feel you are envious, which reinforces my ego." "I therefore, must be rude and snobbish to you, so that you will be rightfully put in your proper place."
Personally, I'm never envious of the latest new toy on the block. To me, my Mustang becomes more fun to own and drive with each passing year. I have more fun with it now (car at 29 years of age) than ever before. Discontinued models are unique in that they rarely suffer from overexposure, unless at a large car show.
After the first year or two, in the eyes of most people, a new car quickly blends in with all the others on the road. Interest at this time will often be at a low point. It then takes five to ten years more, before it starts to re-emerge and stand out as something special (a survivor)....and something other than just another aging everyday driver or beater.
After twenty or twenty five years, a well maintained car will often have as much interest than most new models...sometimes more when parked side by side.
Longtime and (older Mustang) owners that don't feel the need to be the fastest, or have the latest new tech options, not only understand this, but are proud to be in this posistion. The lack of common courtesy or recognition from those on the other end of the spectrum doesn't usually surprise us, nor annoy us. We usually consider the source, and figure you have lots of years to go before you can fully enjoy and be in our posistion. It's akin to retirement...you can't appreciate it 'till you get there.

A lot of the problem lies with the media. Think about it. All the articles basically flame the older models by stating all of the short coming of the older cars. They go on to say how much improved the 05 is...
Don't you think this creates anger...

As for creating anger, that's not really the medias fault per se...it's more about how a given personality reacts to and lets such published rubbish affect their attitude and outlook on life in the first place. It's really more a maturity issue than anything. All cars are once new, then they become old. Some people can deal with it, some can't. The grass isn't always greener on the other side forever.

My mama traded in her fine fancy black grand cherokee laredo on one of these bugs-she was like me with Ellie, waited till they showed up and snatched one of the first off the trucks. I have been begging her since 2001 to get rid of it. Finally she listens: Shes getting a commander when they come out.
Redeeming quality: She also has a vintage cj-5
Stop knocking the Jeep Liberty. I had a 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade, and yes, I traded it in on the stang. The gas mileage stinked but other than that it was a really good vehicle.
Edit: Mind you, I lifted it 3" but bigger tires on it and modded the daylights out if it like I do all of my vehicles.

My perspective tends to be diametrically opposite of people like April. I find more animosity towards me (a V-6 owner) from 2005 GT owners. Heck... just reading some of these forums can be an eye opener especially where complaints are made that V-6 owners who mod their vehicles must be jealous of GT's and should've just bought one in the first place. Mustangs were created to be modded... all Mustangs!!!
(By the way its NOT my intent to single out ALL GT owners with this observation; many GT owners are supportive... and some are friends.)
Is this universal? I doubt it. I've talked to many a Mustang owner at shows, Pony rides, and even in parking lots. They all love the look of the 05... as do I. I also love the older models and can specifically relate with 9x Mustang owners (since I've owned both a 94 V-6 coupe and a 98 V-6 vert). As for the classic Mustangs I love 'em all. Those cars are the shiznit!!!

 I dont get it either...I thought we ALL are suppose to be one big HAPPY PONY FAMILY...But GUESS NOT...!! I had an '02 or '03 GT that was very very POORLY kept...pull up behind me so close...all I could see was the ladies 3 remaining teeth she had left in the front of her mouth....Ughhhhhh !!!
I changed lanes, thinking, OK...maybe she is just checking the car out, but nooooo she gets over behind me tailgating the %#$@ outta me, so I slow down, she goes around me and shoots me a look like I just stole her first born or something...so we get to the light, and she yells out...I HATE THE NEW GT...IT stinkS...and pulls off...Im Like...WTF...?
Dont Hate....!!
(
hey now, I'm a two time fox body owner and you will find few who fawn over the SN195 (since the 06's are coming out) like me. Then again, only one of those foxes has been a mustang.... and a 4 cylinder at that. and an automatic... and the trans was shot, and the steering column was iffy...and the paint job was crap....
well
it had nice wheels!
anyways, fox stang owners should be glad theres still a mustang around to replace their cars with, almost became the probe! my lincoln only lived on till 98.....

Honestly- there are three GTS(down from 4 one sunk into a black hole somewhere) I encounter on a weekly or daily basis- all of them are friendly as they can be-we all wave at each other. Bizarro Eleanor and her ten thousand sisters give me the look like Friggit, Why are you here.... Im sposed to be the only one. :bang:  It probably doesn't help that I antagonize them by getting behind them or blowing past them or beside them to steal their thunder- face it Yellow is
