On a serious note, I've crossed path with a few '05 V6 and GT owners. I never showoff and have offered nothing but compliments, deservingly so. In return, each and every single one of them either compared or degraded what I drive, and that's fine, but then, who is the snob?

Where's a Camaro when you need one?

degraded your Cobra??? Thats just wrong!!

I try to wave or do the old head nod, but most of the other Mustang drivers usually just look right past me or turn their heads real quick, like they werent looking... Maybe I scare them?? or intimidate them??

Let me start out by saying that the 05 Mustang is an awsome car. It brings back the classic lines of the 1st generation and is probably the best built Mustang ever.

That being said, I own an 01 True Blue GT that I've done a number of custom touches to, and have no desire to upgrade yet to an 05. Mustangs since 94 have had many styling cues from the first gen. The 99-04's have a more musclular look to them than the 94-98's, but I love the profiles of thosr years.

Each new year will bring new and better things. People need to lighten up and enjoy whatever generation they have! I promise to wave at an 05, if I ever see one on the road.

Last, I've owned many Mustangs in my day, herew's my read: Favorite year 69 Sportsroof or Vert. Mustang II, very nice car but no go. I had a 75 II 2.8 V6. I liked everything about the car, except the giant tailights. I had 3 Fox Mustangs, an 80, 82 and 83. I drove the 83 for over 200,000 miles. The best car I ever owned. It's still on the road today with over 300K on it.

If it's a Mustang, I wave. If they wave back, great, if not, well, no big deal -- and they probably don't care about the history and all that goes with it anyway...

There is the "Jeep" thing and the "Corvette" thing, where the majority of the owners are enthusiats and take the time to acknowledge their kind on the road.

Mustang people are a little bit more diverse. While some are true enthusiats and love to wave and talk to other owners, there is another group that just bought the car because it was cheap and sporty and are not caught up in the Mustang folklore.

The dirty looks and rude behavior is likey because of either envy or jelaously, best to ignore those people.

Your KIng Cobra looks great but its the only collectable Mustang II ever built.
Ummm....that's not a King Cobra. It gives me some reason to question the credibility of your knowledge and comment about the collectibility of Mustang II's.

most other mustang owners seem respectible to me. other 05 owners dont even look over, and 99-04 gt's will rev and such but if u talk to them at the light they seem rather positive about the car usually...usually. its the 89-93 foxes that always do burnouts around me and rev like mad and floor it and flip u-turns just to pass me again.

worst of all tho, are the evo and srt4 18-30yr males. subie people seem chill and the evo crowd complements me when they get thir butt handed to them, but the srt4 people just keep cruisin around like their neon is a ferrari.

ws6 and camaro ss's are fun to be around too cuz they assume their stuff is the shlt speed-wise. problem is unless they have stuff done they are a good bit slower (than me at least in my experience). i will never forget my first time ever to the track, i raced an ss running 13.4 to his 13.8, and a ws6 running 13.3 to his 13.5. a built one of those ls1's is to be respected of course though, and i respect the power of the ls1 as long as they arent weiners (lmao i said "*****" and it editted it) about it.

ummm, I drive a V6, and I wave to anyone that waves.... being in the south, in a small town, its just what we do --- for the most part.

But the real reason I am responding is because I don't think that Vsixers are clueless about mustangs... thats a huge stereotype! :nono: And, I hardly believe we are "Clueless" when being waved at ..... what an ignorant thing to say.

[/b]

I never implied (or meant to imply) that all V6ers are clueless, but, like I said, most people, V6ers and GT's, don't wave back and give me a quizzical look and likely don't understand the history.

I agree with you. If anyone thinks that we who drive V6's are "clueless" are arrogant themselves. When I am driving around, I am looking out for waives, and thumbs up, but I ALSO have to watch the road. Again, if someone gives me a waive and I SEE IT, I will reciprocate. If I don't it's not because I am IGNORANT, I just didn't see you.
well see above. And the second part is what I'm basically getting at, if someone in an older mustang doesn't wave back don't automatically assume they are jealous they may not be paying attention to you because they don't see you.

And that's another point that I was getting at in my post.

Sorry if you misunderstood Southern_stang_girlie, didn't mean to offend. But when you look at the whole message what I posted really wasn't ignorant.

Face it....there are some people jealous of '05's.
There are likewise some snobs driving '05's too.
There are some true Mustang enthusiasts, that will wave to all other Mustangers. There are some that only like performance or otherwise modified stangs, and only wave to them....or to cars visually similar to theirs. There are others that do not buy a Mustang for the same reasons enthusiasts do...they wouldn't understand why you are waving. or think of doing it.

It's true though, years ago more people waved in general. People that drove street machines, street rods or clean vintage vehicles waved to others, often regardless of make or model. That's part of the reason you had one. It wasn't all about street racing or winning a trophy, or having the newest toy just to impess someone. Todays enthusiast and performance car owner is all too often equating what he drives to his image and inflated ego....and patting themselves on the back instead of using their hand to wave to someone else.

Nothing, other than the 13" go cart wheels that they came with.

Plus the wheelbase on them is so short and the overhangs are so long that one time when I put my foot up on the front bumper of a Mustang II, I almost flipped the darn thing over.

Then again, unless its a mustang I know, I don't wave at them either. I mistook a black one for another black one once, and whooooooowee did the driver give me a look.
They might not love me, but they love Eleanor.Everytime I park her, she goes on Dates and has babies- no joke. She can be the only mustang in the lot, and when I come out its like someone stepped on a **** ant bed.

I think it will be interesting when the day comes and Chevy puts a new Camaro on the road. I bet that want be pretty. Their will be much jealousy. Especially if the camaro looks anything like what I have seen as concept pics. on the net. It is to die for.

Ford SOLD more Mustangs in 74 than in ANY year since, and won motor trends car of the year award. The II was called the right car at the right time for a reason, the mideast crisis and OPEC imbargo caused lines a block long at gas stations and made GTO, Charger, Challenger, Cuda, and javelin extinct. The 302 in the 73 mustang was just as underpowered as the 302 in the II, but the 73 weighed hundreds of pounds more. A 65v8 was about as fast as a 75v8. But the II handled alot better, thats why hotrodders use II for their steering components. The fox stang that replaced the II had the same engines optional, until they discontinued the 302 and replaced it with the least powerful v8 mustang engine ever (I think it was a 255). II have been increasing in value lately, you should check out ebay. A coupe sold for 12,000 and a king for 18,000 recently.

Actually, the II crowd doesn't have many snobs at all. Quite the opposite in fact. Most are seemingly quite content to be far removed from that type of personality. They seldom seek the need to be part of a crowd, nor do the things snobs do to appease their egos. Now, put your nose down and read on to get a better understanding of the error of your thinking, logic and sarcasm.

Most snobs wouldn't be caught dead driving a car that had such a poor image based mostly upon the opinions of other snobs who think they are automotive authorities, but often don't know jack.

Snobs as a rule seek recognition, but not if it means being associated with a car that other snobs turn their snobby noses up at. Snobs seek exclusitivity, and usually try and separate themselves from the masses, by associating with other snobs that buy cars based on limited production and/or availability or high price.

Some wannabe snobs try to become real snobs, by jumping on the popularity bandwagon when it comes to what they drive, for their general lack of ability deal with negativity and opinions of other snobs they might encounter. They often feel compelled to pick on others having (perceived) inferior status, to make themselves feel better about their own shortcomings and snobbery.

Ahhh...now I feel more "appeased". Good night!

I have had both reactions - mainly good - but most of the time they look at you ignore you like you are some irritating newbe :geek: to the mustang world and why in the world are you waving at them?

Only one time was I flipped off that was pretty strange since I didnt even wave or nod.

Overall though in my neck of the universe it seems that Sn95ers tend to be friendly or oblivious , fox body guys tend to glare and 99-04 tend to stare with an occasional wave or smile Cobras are usually pretty friendly..

Anyway I love all hotrods and especially mustangs - any year thats been looked after will get my respect.

I was driving home the other day from work, when I was approached by a 2003 or 2004 cobra ( silver)...he got right up next to me after cutting through a bunch of cars in traffic to get to me, then gives me a dirty look, as I gave a slight hi jesture, then guns it and cuts right in front of me and then slows down......
What the?$!# I said to myself, why the hate......I thought I would wave and be cool, but he gunned it , slowed down, gunned it again, so I switched lanes, and he finally drove off gettin over fast as he almost missed his exit playing with me................... :bang: WHY?!?!?!?!?
Anyone else have this happen or is he just a bitter guy!?

I usually get friendly people giving me the maybe that is why I was so surprised at this guy!
I'd have to say that maybe this jerk was never shown any affection for LOVE thus to be like that to any human well he just make others that have Mustangs look bad so please don't let a geek like that tarnish your image

It's a sad fact, but there are many jerks in this world, and some happen to drive Mustangs.
