Why do other Mustang owners hate us in the '05's..
I am with you guys. There are some real jerks out there & some do drive stangs. I will also agree about the fox styles looking like escorts.
Before I got my 96 we were looking & my mom & g-pa took me to look at a bunch of 93's a dealer had on their lot. The 1st word out of my mouth were, "That's not a Mustang", they said "Yes it is, just not one you are used to seeing", my reply "It looks like mom's Escort & I won't drive one." Nedless to say they weren't happy & I didn't get one.
Also, it's NOT just Mustang drivers. Once in HS, my friend & I were driving home from her moms house in her 97 Lumina. We decided to wave at every car that we met. In a 35 mile drive, approx 50 cars, 2 waved & 1 of the 2 was my Uncle who knew it was us.
Now I have not seen many 05's on the road around here. Only about 10 or so. Not one has waved at me, only 4 being close enough to actually see me & 1 (in a silver V6) looking directly at me & giving me a go to hades look.
On the flip side of that, my mom when she drove it the other day got like 5 comments on it. I have gotten many, many comments on it as well. The guys at Auto Zone asked if the could come out & look at it. Jokingly I said "No, you can't......j/k come on & look all you want" I even offered to let them look inside. One guy even had to get a wif of the new car smell.
Also, in my 03 with my mom driving the bypass, a girl in a Honda (I think) pulled along side of us & looked over at me & pointed & mouthed "I like you car", I of course mouthed back "Thank you." & we exchanged thumbs ups.
So, see, it's not this car type or that car type of people. It's people in general. If you met each other on mopads & you waved the other guy would probably push you over. Anyway. Just my 2cents.
btw 1 Bullitt ~ LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your mystichrome cobra. You will hear no comparisons or degrading remarks here. It's a beautiful machine.

This is my 5th stang. First was a 77 Mustang II and it was a beast. Since they I have loved stangs, obviously. The thing I can't get use to is how many people frown upon you, especially if your stang looks better than theirs. I have never ever kept any of my cars stock. As far as other mustang owners that come across my path I find that only 1 out of 10 says nice car or waves, the rest either give a dirty look, finger, or take off in their own little race to feel better about themselves.

I like all mustangs from the IIs to the fox bodies to the 05s, but I have gotten nothing but bad atttitude from the few 05 owners I have seen on the road, I tried waving at a guy in a 05 GT and give him the thumbs up but he looked at me gave a dirty look and laughed :notnice: . A guy in a V6 05 alongside me actually gave the thumbs down after pointing at my car. But I hate bunching up people into one group, so eventually I guess I will meet a nice 05 owner, of course you guys are excluded.

I have had mixed reactions. On the road, I have not been acknowledge by late model Mustangs. But I visited an SVT club and they all took a look at my 05. I even went to a race event and some of the guys remembered me and were interested in seeing how I raced.
A lot of the problem lies with the media. Think about it. All the articles basically flame the older models by stating all of the short coming of the older cars. They go on to say how much improved the 05 is...
Don't you think this creates anger...

Sounds like there is some anger from 05 guys towards other years as well as the other way....I have an 02 GT....I love my car...I love the 05 too!!! I always wave(or nod, if I can't wave)....Can't we all just get along....

I like the 05, but I drive a Mustang II. The 99-04 people are probably angry the 05 resembles a Mustang II more than there Fox platform stangs. And 79-93 people are probably angry there car resembles an escort GT more than any other generation mustang. Im glad the mustang has the style to go along with performance again. The II had the style but not the performance unless you had the 302V8 (and you could easily add a 4barrel carb and dual exhaust and have all the HP you need), the 79+ maybe had a little more power but not the traditional mustang style.

The 05 resembles the mustang 2, ROFL...

They don't, it's just you
. Do you find yourself answering your own questions? Have a 'special' invisible friend? Always looking into the back seat to see if 'someone' is there? Wondering "why do other Mustang owners hate us in the 05s." Really, I'm just kidding. Just wanted to lighten up the topic

I drive 2 03s and every time I see an 05 I might not nod or wave (but thats just because Im too busy drooling over the 05) I don't hate the 05s and I haven't gotten a bad response from a person driving an 05
I've had mine a month and haven't gotten a single wave from anyone. I always check out other Mustangs regardless of the year. So far it's like my ride is invisible though, no one is ever looking back! You'd think it would get noticed, especially with the top down. And I keep it immaculately clean. Ah well, I love it and got it for me, not them
I own several bikes, have ridden continuously since I was a kid. It's always impressed me how much camaraderie there is, we all wave at each other regardless of what we're riding. I've heard some complaints about Harley snobs not waving, but one of my rides is a Harley and I always wave, plus when I'm on my crotch rocket the Harley guys mostly wave back. If you want waves, get a bike

Whew..thats alot of reading in this thread !!!
First off, I own an 05 V6 and I know more Mustang history than most. I've owned MANY Stangs ('65 coupe,67 coupe, 70 BOSS 302, 71 Mach 1,73 Grande, 78 Cobra, 81 5.0, 01 GT Vert and now the 05 V6) and have restored or worked on ALL of them myself. So I know a thing or 2 about these cars !! I also know that as much as the Mustang has changed over the years, the people that drive them have changed just as much.
In the '70's people were into the "muscle car" frame of mind. Chev vs. Ford vs. Dodge and so on. But MOST of us appreciated what the other guys had. A huge reason for that was, we all worked on our own cars!! Tuned em up on weekends, tried new setups and so on.
In the mid '70's &'80's change came because of oil prices and the mind set went from fast muscle to "sporty" The Mustang II reflected that. Chevy had the Monza Spyder (And yes...I had one of those as well
). But most people that were in the "muscle" car era started to get married and have kids. Appreciation for the automotive nestelgia started to change.
In the '90's, thanks to the computer chip and hose crowded engine bays, many people were intimitaded to open the hood of a car, never mind work on it. The love for the automobile was at its lowest, I believe, in the early '90's. And the car enthusiasts were pushed even further into the dark. Pride in your ride was low...Unless you hung on to your "muscle" car from your youth
Then, in the late '90's to today, some manufactueres started to think more of the baby boomer aging society who had some cash. The same people whom I mentioned earlier from the '70's!! Out of this was born the 05 Mustang
Where, you ask is this all leading to? Well over the 3 1/2 decades we have breed 3 or 4 VERY different kind of car owner. We have almost gone full circle. You will probably find, not always but alot, that the people waving at you will be the guys/girls that do their own mods, the middle aged (35-45ish) and the very new drivers...the new breed on "muscle" car owner.
The ones that will be snobby will be the ones that grew up in the "My daddy will get me what I want" frame of mind and have no idea what a wrench would look like never mind how to use it!!
And in between you will have varying degrees of automotive appreciation/nostalgia. Some will wave and give you the
, some wont
And some are just shy...human nature.
Its a great study in how people and cars have changed over the years...I miss the good ole days!! Its nice to see them come back...sorta.
So to ALL you who didn't get a wave before...Here ya go....
And to the people that don't wave or smile or whatever, just remember, dont take life so seriuosly...no one gets out of it alive!!

Every pervert in Shelby County Alabama Loves my car....... be they driving a Mustang or not. You wouldn't believe what I have seen and heard..
I just got a WOW thats a hot looking car when I hopped out to get a flower pot. From a woman- I told her to go get one, it would change her life.

JEEP owners always wave at each other.why cant we?

People around here don't give any real comments. I got a "Ford stinks" yelled at me from some guy in a camaro and the local gas station attendant drools everytiem I fill up. Thats about the only responses to the car I have gotten in the 5 months I have had it.
Also today I saw my first GT on the road. I slowed to let them catch up so I could wave and they shoot right by me plus had heavy tinted windows so I could't even see the driver.

I'm a Jeep owner and I wave . . . even when I only have two wheels on the ground . . . . no matter which rig I'm in.
