Why do other Mustang owners hate us in the '05's..
The whole idea with the 79+ fox stangs style was to make it look fresh, new, aerodynamic and european. The escort was originaly a european for car to begin with. But the car lost its identity along the way and looked nothing like the 64. The 79+ stangs have flush headlights no stang in the grill, no side scoops, not even three element tailights! That was one stang that Ford HAD to put big MUSTANG script on so people could tell it wasn't a Ford EXP or Escort!
OH man I have something to add to this, on friday I was getting off the freeway near my house and before getting off I came up on this guy in a maybe 2000 or 2002 black GT convertible. You know the type, Gi Jock head and his blonde bimbo girlfriend. Anyways I cruised around him and off the freeway and I could see behind me this guy weaving to try and get off at my exit. So he pulls up next to me at the light and does this look over, head tilt thing at me, like he is joe smooth in his GT and me in my little (whimpy) V6. So I give him a little rev, and he looks at me and I could see he was trying to chuckle. So the light turns (we are both making a right under an overpass) and I let it roll out a little and then gun it hard, barking second gear like mad, its a short jog to another red light just past the overpass. So I can hear the guy get on it a little and he pulls up next to me at the light, this time I smile at him and he just has this look like he is pissed off and his "girl" was laughing at him.... it was great.
Then on Saturday I am merging on to the freeway and I look over and see this sweet 99-00-01 black saleen looking GT rolling in the fast lane as I am merging so just as I am merging over (WOT) I hear this other exhaust note and its a white GT of some kind same year(s) all tricked out, with stickers you name it trying to out run me from crossing over and diving in front of (his buddies black gt???) but he could not accelerate fast enough to block me (I only know this from looking in my rear view when I jumped in front of the black GT to see the white one drop in front of the black GT as well, needless to say I was still WOT and almost hit the speed limiter and it looked like the guy in the white GT dropped back after I had hit 100mph, some nice freeway carving and I was gone by more then an 1/8th between us.
Crazy stuff, scary thing is I have no idea where the White GT was when I was merging onto the freeway at WOT, until after I had already jumped in front of the black one...

When I first got my II (over 10 years ago) Mustang buffs (mostly fox body people) would always say "nice rebodied pinto" I would say "I would rather drive a car that looks like a mustang than one that looks like an escort"! Today hardly anyone knows or remembers the pinto, and I always get compliments like "thats a classic" or "your car is amazing".

I think its V6 owners in general. I mean probably most V6 drivers don't care about history or the family of the car or whatnot, just like that particular care and have no idea about history. I mean think about it, most of them have probably just sold some boring old car that never got waves and don't understand what the poop is going on. They see a wave and think "do I know you?" and give a quizzical look. They don't know its because of the car.

ummm, I drive a V6, and I wave to anyone that waves.... being in the south, in a small town, its just what we do --- for the most part.
But the real reason I am responding is because I don't think that Vsixers are clueless about mustangs... thats a huge stereotype! :nono: And, I hardly believe we are "Clueless" when being waved at ..... what an ignorant thing to say.

God I have found myself turning into one of "those" women since Eleanor came home. I swear I have put on more red lipstick in five months than I have in my life.

Well if you dont wave, then they think you are a snob and not a friendly '05 owner...........

I had a fox body 5.0 mustang glare at me the other day. The poor car had more rust on it than red paint.... I think it was red anyways. As much as I don't like the fox body stangs, seeing that was kind of painful. He proceeded to rev his engine and all etc etc... I didn't understand why someone would show off a car they didn't take care of

I have alsways thought that the 79-93 Stangs look like an Escort but everyone always said I was insane.
Theres a guy at Autozone which owns one (dont know what year) that looks exactly like an Escort. He asked me one day if I was bored with that body yet and if I was ready to trade it. He was not joking by the way. I said well, as you know this is the best Stang that Ford has ever produced that goes back to the Mustang heritage rather than the Escort heritage so I think I will keep it for a while and walked out.
Why, why, why do people have to be jelouse? Why? I see people out there with the Mercedes, Porshce's etc. and always compliment them knowing that my car is a joke infront of theirs.
I just wish this world was not so hateful.
What was Ford thinking by the way to build a Mustang that resembled an Escort. Does anyone know?

On a serious note, I've crossed path with a few '05 V6 and GT owners. I never showoff and have offered nothing but compliments, deservingly so. In return, each and every single one of them either compared or degraded what I drive, and that's fine, but then, who is the snob?
Where's a Camaro when you need one?

The 05 Gt owners are all nice round here, I don't know why the other sixes hate on me.

I too drive a 2005 V6, and if anyone waives or gives the thumbs up, I'll do the same back
I agree with you. If anyone thinks that we who drive V6's are "clueless" are arrogant themselves. When I am driving around, I am looking out for waives, and thumbs up, but I ALSO have to watch the road. Again, if someone gives me a waive and I SEE IT, I will reciprocate. If I don't it's not because I am IGNORANT, I just didn't see you.

Why? Whats wrong with the II's? There wouldn't be an 05 without the II!

Your KIng Cobra looks great but its the only collectable Mustang II ever built.
I noticed the snobbishness of '02-04' drivers also. Especially the Cobra , dare I say?, Yes, I dare....jerks. They run up the back end, speed past, gun their engines, cut in front and take off. "Oh, be quiet my beating heart." What gives? They don't wave or acknowledge an '05. What sore losers. I have seen over a dozen and nary a one will look at ya', or wave. But they all drive like wanna be ricers. oops, I misspelled that word...racers.
I guess I will just honk and wave as I pull in behind the nice officer to chat when they get stopped. That really burns them, as I drive off in my '05 with a smirk on my face.
Can you say "Press hard, five copies, please."

-man all this hate towards the fox bodies. i love my 92gt to death ,i would have to say this body style was a good look. mean looking and all. i dont know guess all you 05 owners just think your beter then us 5.0. lol j/k
The problem may stem from the fact that the 05 Mustangs are drawing in buyers that wouldn't have considered a Mustang before. Perhaps all 05 owners are suffering from the generalization that we're not "real Mustang guys (and gals!)". I get the cold shoulder a lot too but strangely, the people with 80s and 90s Mustangs that I hang around with told me "not to become an 05 Mustang snob" when I bought it.
Hey I am a friendly outgoing guy and I thumbs up other mustangs I see if, they are mod, hot, or special like Mach's etc. The everyday pony's I don't but they are OK.
I always get a wave back (if they see me) but hey my Mustang is so cool they have to look.
Anyway, the only one who wouldn't wave was a young blond driving a black 05 GT. She probably thought I was an old white guy trying to flirt.
She doesn't know that her car is way hotter than her.
Keep being friendly and try to be humble in a new Mustang (it is hard).

Funny we were just talking about this in that thread concerning how many 05s you see on the road - me and Adrenalin brought up the fact that mostly the 'bad vibes' seem to be coming from 99-04 owners....
Actually, people have mentioned Cobra drivers - funny thing is, most folks in 99-04s give me the cold shoulder if not flat out attitude. But the couple of Cobra pilots I've come up next to have all given me the head nod thing. Guess its a South Florida thing.
I also ran into a guy in a black 01 Bullitt SE and he was drooling over my car while I was droooling over his at a stoplight - it was hilarious. He was like "I love it!" I told him the same. He says "I want one!" He said 'Hey - I want one of THOSE!"
(Speaking of Bullitt - Hey 1 Bullitt - where you at in Florida anyway?)
