I think it really depends on the year and the body style. So, here are my favorite Mustang Colors by Year (Classics plus S-197's)

1965 and 1966 Whimbledon White
1967 and 1968 Raven Black
1969 Calypso Coral
1970 Grabber Blue
1971-1973 Light Pewter Metallic
2005 Sonic Blue
2006-2008 Vista Blue

 

I've owned two white Mustangs, a gun metal grey 86 GT and now, a Tungsten 07 GT. I love my tungsten, but, honestly, the first Mustangs seem to have been white to me. The first Shelby Mustangs, as well.

 

My opinion as well, although my personal choices are different;

1965 and 1966 Wimbledon White
1967 Vintage Burgundy
1968 Highland Green
1969 Royal Maroon
1970 Grabber Blue
1971-1973 Any Grabber color
1979-1993 Silver
1994-2004 Laser Red
2005-2007 RedFire
2008-Torch Red

FYI, The reason Mustangs were white w/blue stripes were for identification purposes during an international race. They represent the nationality of the vehicle.

The classic Mustang color is red.

But I like vista a lot more.

Black is for large silent limos. Just can't understand why most people choose such an "shy" color on a car like that.

 

Black or Red...a tie IMHO.

 

Probably red, my idea of what a Mustang is, is like a classic 1964 Red Covnertible, with a 289. My favorite color is Vista blue, however.

 

To me, the 'classic' mustang color is either blue with white stripes or white with blue stripes.

 

I am partial to Alloy, but the classic look to me is blue.

 

White Mustangs look OK until they are parked with a black Mustang. Then the black Mustang looks sleek and trim while the white looks pudgy and bloated.

 

Unless it's a Bullitt, then the answer is Red.

I'm thinking white with blue Le Mans stripes or blue with white Le Mans stripes.

 

Legend Lime - I'm seeing a pattern here I think this is a waste of time

 

black is def my first choice (but a B!TCH to keep clean). im also partial to the Tungsten Grey. when i was looking for the car i was torn between those 2 colors. as u can see i went with the black

1964.5 - Nothing beat a red vert.

But I agree. Different Mustangs require different colors.
