Thinking of swapping to a t5

To make a long story short, the auto transmission in my 94 GT got flodded and needs a rebuild, but I'm debating if it would be better or cost effective to swap a t5 instead. I've read somewhere that the ones that would bolt in would be the 94-95 5.0L or 94-04 v6 with a5.0L f-150 flywheel to work. And somewhere I saw that a fox trans w bellhousing can be used, but something had to be done with the shifter? I'm at a loss here. Sn95 manual parts are very scarce here, but fox ones are dime a dozen. Can someone clear things up?

Have you done such a thing before? It's not technically hard, but there's a LOT of things to do. It'd be a simpler, easier, going to work right out of the box (unless ya mess up or the thing is broke) thing to put the AODE back in it. The swap is going to take a LOT of parts you don't currently have on the car... or in your hands? I don't know your situation. Driveshaft, clutch, flywheel, fork, pilot and throwout bearings, cable, pedal assembly, clutch quadrant, wire up netural safety switch, transmission mount... other stuff(tm)...

That said:

1) Regarding types of transmissions, you should just get a 94-95 GT T5 setup, engine block to axle yoke, so it'll just bolt up. You'll be having enough fun without gotchas and lookatthats and dagnabbits.

2) Regarding the fox trans, the input shaft is shorter than in the SN95. This right here is why I wouldn't do it, extra work. That shorter shaft moves the overall setup, which is setup in the bell housing, so the shifter winds up in the wrong place. Or so I've read. Just say no, IMO. And to help reinforce that, here:
That guy goes through it. In reverse, as he's using an SN95 to go in the Fox, but same deal. It's not *hard*, just... yeah. Not my cuppa unless I just *had* to. But if you did, then you'd use a '94-95 bell housing and go from there.

So while it'd be easier to source Fox parts, it'll be harder to get it installed and working. Not impossible, true, but honestly... if you want the car up and running, you really don't need any more parts chasing that you're gonna be in to do the swap in the first place.

There's plenty other information out there if you google it:
https://www.google.com/search?q=95+mustang+GT+t5+swap

And I found this because it lists everything, because it has everything:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/94-95-MUSTA...-/110898415703
Of course, that's a pretty pricey bit there, but it'll bolt on up.

And then a couple of fox swaps to give you an idea what's up in the conversion process (as I can't seem to find videos for this on a '94-95, and it's unkosher to link to other sites here whats names shall not be mentioned, but are in the google search, so...):

There's stuff that won't be the same between the cars in those videos/pages, but there ya go.

Hope that helps in some way. Good dang luck!
