Supercharged

Looking for input regarding supercharger selection. I've narrowed it down to Pro-charger (centrifugal) and Kenne Bell (positive displacement). The car is a 2007 Shelby GT. Does anyone have experience with either of those two brands? All input is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm more of a fan of whipple. But the kb is a really good blower too. Positive displacement would be my choice just because of the more instant and constant boost. The kb will give you better hp on the low end. Either way will be a blast though.

The twin screw give an incredible amount of torque and horsepower in the lower rpm range,it builds boost faster and awesome on the street. A centri builds boost a bit higher in the rpms which provides a longer linear power curve. A twin screw is way better for the street because it builds boost instantly however the powerband isn't as broad as a centri. Both will make you incredibly happy however it depends on your preferences as far as when you want the power to hit. A whipple or kb would be comparable to a big bore motor. Insane power off the line and midrange and kinda die off once you really rev(5000 rpm or so). A centri will build boost a bit later in the rpm range(2500 or so) but it will keep pulling in the upper rpms(after 5000 or so). Both will make you smile but the work a bit different. I suggest going turbo simply because it builds boost in the lower rpms and doesn't flat spot. And it builds power from the exhaust so there is no drag or parasitic loss because it's not taxing the motor to spin it. It's spinning because of the exhaust making it free power. Not taking some power to create more. Does that make sense

I agree al. Positive displacement is far more street friendly. And better for an automatic tranny. Luv ya big bro

I would go turbo but I don't wanna sound anything like the pos rice burners around here. I fell in love with superchargers the first time I heard an 03 cobra with a whipple floor it past me one day. Had an eargasm when I heard that whine

Also if you're bolting that thing up to a stock gt, you have to watch how much boost it can handle. I'm only guessing about 10 psi max but don't quote me. It's not gonna take much for either option to hit 10 psi so make sure the set up is something that your motor can handle.

Yeah, my first choice if money wasn't an issue would be the Ford Racing Whipple supercharger. For my car the M-6066-M-117 is about 7 grand!!!!! The Pro Charger is about 2 grand less. With the Kenne Bell in the middle. In my " Man" mind it seems easier to tell my wife I spent $5000 as opposed to $7000. So the whipple is out. The car is a 5 speed manual. Not sure if that has any impact in my decision making process. First hand experience from owners using them in their cars is good info to have.
Thanks everyone. You're all providing good feedback. Keep it coming.

I'd go with the KB setup. They've got a great product that you verrrrry rarely hear any negatives about, and a sound that should be illegal due to is audio pornographic nature, haha.

Do heed the warnings about power levels. Push it too far, and you'll spend a good bit more than $6k.

My head's spinning now! I just came across the new Roush 2300TVS blowers. 3 Stages, single belt or dual belt. 6 different prices!!! So many choices. OK, so now I narrowed it down from 2 to 3 choices! That's backwards isn't it? I thought the number was supposed to get smaller!!
These are the kind of decisions that make life fun !
