Sloshing sound

I have a 07 convertible and when I shift into gear and the car starts to slightly move there is a sloshing sound come from the back left side of the car. Is it because of a leak or as some have said or is it gas sloshing around in the gas tank.

Does it happen when you're nearly on empty, the same as when the tank is full? Should answer your question. Only thing back there is the gas tank, a saddle style with compartments on each side of the transmission tube. Everything else is mechanical.

Have to agree with what Vapor said, pretty much the only thing that could "slosh".

I have heard that sometimes rain water can get into the convertible area down into the quarter panels which can cause the sloshing noise. There may be a TSB about this.

the cure i have always used for unexplained noises is to turn up the volume on the radio a bit more ...

I filled up the gas tank and the sloshing sound is still there. Sounds like its coming from the passenger side rear quarter panel. Anyone know where it could be leaking into and where the drain plugs might be located?

You can strip back all the trunk lining stuff and take a look around. There are a couple of areas that aren't accessible, though.

That would really suck if it's inside one of those panels.

Hi buster58,

Welcome to the forum. My name is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. The members here have loads of good info. I recommend you make an appointment with your Ford dealer for diagnosis. You can also PM me your VIN, dealer, contact info, and current mileage so I can check on your warranty status and see how I can help. Have a good one!
