Shaker hood air filter question

I posted in the 2005-2009 section, but no responses, so I thought I would try to broaden the readership a bit. Shaker hoods aren't ultra common.
I just purchased a new Ford air filter for my '07 GT (about $18 at the dealership). When I pulled out the old air filter I noticed that it was rather heavy duty with screening, and just better built apparently for the shaker hood. Will the new Ford air filter be sufficient for this system or do I need to find a similar shaker hood filter? Any insight would be appreciated. This is a 16,000 miles car and the shaker hood was installed by the dealer when new. I figured after 7 years it was time for a new filter despite the mileage.

The Shaker Hood scoop is made by an aftermarket company. They never came with a special or Heavy Duty Air filter. You just cut a hole in the factory airbox and that was that. The filter in there is also probably a non-Ford filter so that is why it looks different. No special filter is required. By your description I am guess you have a K&N filter .. is it pink?

Thanks for the reply. No, it's not a K&N as there is no writing to indicate that, just 'ACB' imprinted. It appears to be ACB anyway. Hard to read it. Here are two photos of the front and rear. I should have submitted them originally to help out. The screening is on both sides of the original while the new Ford filter (on the right) has it on just one side. I just want to make sure the new Ford filter will be OK to use.

It's a reusable K&N.

You would think it would be imprinted somewhere. Not smart marketing IMO. I really appreciate the response. I'll clean it up and see which one I want to use. Thanks!

Just hit it with mean green. Let it soak. Hose it off. Let it dry and reinstall. Return the ford one.

You need to re-oil it after you clean it. Any auto place that sells K&N filters will have the oil.

Ok, thanks again. I cleaned it and put it away for the next owner of the car whenever that day comes. Oiling it also means more money and time. Now that I understand this a bit more I really don't see the advantage of this K&N other than the build quality. The Ford filter should be fine, and if not, then I'll get the oil and put the K&N back in. I appreciate the help.
