Seat Question, S197 and S550

I have to ask first, I suppose. So here goes.

I'm curious if anyone has any sort of knowledge of whether the seats from a 2015-2017 Mustang will fit into a 2005-2009 Mustang. Specifically 2015-2017 GT seats with the 6 way adjustment. Front and back seat set.

I mean, I know I *could* fit them in, as I have a Dremel, a Hammer, some Duct Tape, and Lube, but it'd be really cool if they just dropped in and bolted up, for the most part.

Did Ford make huge changes to how those seats work/bolt in? Or are they basically the same since 2005, with cosmetic or other small adjustments?

I really like the way these fit me when I sat in a new Mustang, and would really like to just throw them in Awesome. They also look really nifty to me as well, and I can make cosmetic changes to make those work if they'd otherwise just can be plopped into place.

Thanks in advance, hope you guys/gals have a good answer.

Update: Seems that the mounting points in the floor pan are different for the fronts. Can't say as to the rears, but I'm sure there's a gotcha there too.

That will not stop me, if I desire it to be so, just... darn. Maybe I can fashion an adapter plate to mount the things....

Someone else had a thread in adapting the seats. I remember some welding as part of it. I know it was a difficult process. I'm hoping someone makes an adapter for this at some point. I want Recaros but don't want to spend 3,000 on used seats. All you can find nowadays is 2015+

Your prompting helped me to find... this!

It is fairly straight forward, looks like. I mean, the stuff he did... well, I can do that as well.

Which means....

Great! At least now I know I can bolt 2016 front seats into a S197 without welding! I have also seen a write up on putting the back seats in too. Have you found any write ups on wiring the power functions for the 2015 in the s197? Thanks

Does anyone have an idea where a seat swap (2012 into 2008 - GT to GT/CS) thread might be found ? Specifically looking for the electrical information. Good thin is I am installing them to replace GT/CS so they both have heat and power and functionality will remain the sam.

Consider searching the forums by using the search function menu located between the new posts and quick link tabs above.

2012 into 2008

I have successfully installed 2012 seats into my 2008 GT/CS. I used the original wiring harness. It mated up to the elctronics in the new seat and also where it plugs into the car

If you weren't able to locate a thread by using the search function menu located at the top? I don't know what else to recommend, other than perhaps doing a google search.. If that doesn't work? then I would suggest submitting a new thread

That search function is bogus, m05. Always has been (hold up finger gun). I gave up on it, I use Google directly and put in site:themustangsource.com. Works better. But even in this case... not sure there'd be a page on this...

MyLender, you will need the wiring diagrams of both cars to correctly pin the things out. And if you can navigate the site, it's in here:
http://iihs.net/fsm/?d=0

Since you're looking at all S197 stuff, both of those should be correct... to an extent. There's a possibility of a model year having a tweak or two the previous ones didn't. But seat wise, I'm thinkin' they're the same for both major sub-models of S197.

Hope that helps!

Oh, it has been brought up before. Trust me. I gave up on that too. They did improve it a little, but overall it's just not an important thing, and I think it's also more the software that the forums are running with, not the mod's fault. They can't write/rewrite the search function in it.

Like I says, just googling this way:
"Thing I want" site:themustangsource.com
seems to work pretty good overall. Sometimes quotes or sometimes not, sometimes "more than" "one set" of them, like that.

Is what it is now, in any case, it's not gonna get better methinks.

Actually it was the software which the forums are running that I was referring to Tex! I wasn't implying nor putting blame on the Mods, but rather my statement regarding bringing up the issue to their attention was intended as meaning that perhaps the mods or admins might be able to bring the web/software department up to speed that the search function isn't functioning properly and requires rewriting/correcting? However, if this has been brought up before with little to no improvement? Then i suppose doing google searches as you mentioned is really the only other alternative left lol. Otherwise, if folks such as myself are for whatever reason unable to address the questions from those seeking answers and support? then rather than risk providing inaccurate info, it would be in the best interest to send these folks your way knowing the technical expertise and knowledge that you've been so well known for on this site for many years, to say the very least
