Rebuild

So tonight I was driving my mustang in town and all the sudden I hear a "BOOM!" turns out the guy who owned my car before me had it serviced at the dealer where they tightened one of my spark plugs to tight and stripped it out... So now I need to find a way to fix it (as low costing as possible)

Any advice?

they have a kit out there where you retap the hole and then put a insert in there. The name of it excapes me right now. I had to do it on my 2k a while back. Helicoil

Alright thanks! I ended up getting one at a auto shop near my house for about thirty bucks and do it myself. The ford dealer (not that I would let them) wanted $750 to do what could easily be a 25-30 minute job that I can get the kit for $30 and a new coil pack for 50. But I was thinking. Would this be a good time to upgrade my coil packs? And if so any suggestions?

coils are a waste of cash for a more or less stock engine. When you retap that hole make sure you pack the tap with grease so it catches all the metal shavings. Why do you need a new coil?

Depending on how old the car is. Its always a good rule of thumb to replace the plugs and coils when you buy a car used..

The car had 85,000 miles when I bought it and when I bought it the older man that owned it did the 100,000 mile service done to it right before I picked it up. It is CERY well taken care of!

-Glen: And I need a new coil because when the plug shot out is snapped the mound for the coil above it and I lost the mount, and rubber boot on the coil in the road that the cars behind me had fun running over.

I glued mine back together. You can buy the boot and spring as a kit I believe. But hey a new cop is always nice too.
