First you guys heard of this? It's the easiest and best mod for a detector no power cords into the outlet anymore.

It's kind of a ridiculous idea. On a recent trip to Vegas it was my plan to stay about 5-8 mph over the limit. I had cars running up my **** all day. In the 70 zone traffic was running at 85+. Nearly everyone speeds. Very few people buy cars with 300-600 hp to cruise at the speed limit at all times.
If you are someone who claims to have never speeded....good for you, I have some doubt as to veracity of that claim. Most of us have looked down and found that we were going faster than we had realized. Sometimes that realization comes after seeing red flashing lights in the background.
I don't have a radar detector and have only had one speeding ticket in the last 20 years, but I occasionally ramp it up when it appears safe to do so. I think that most of us do. Speed laws are designed to be safe, but what is safe for a car with high performance tires, brembo brakes and a well balanced chassis is quite different from a '72 Chrysler Newport with cheapie tires, drum brakes (no antilock) and original shocks and springs. For which car was this speed deemed safe???
I'm not advocating running around like a madman endangering others and running at ridiculous and unsafe speeds on public roads. But, let's be realistic, "Don't speed???" really?? Never??? never 28 in a 25 zone??? Wow, that's discipline. If you can do it, I salute you. Now could you move over, I'm going to drop a gear or two and pass...quickly.

Ive had the original Escort 8500 for 10... YES 10 years now. I send it back to Escort about once every 3 years for updates and little fixes. They service it for $50 everytime no matter what and they document everything they upgrade in it. Hell of a company and hell of a radar detector if you ask me.
As for performance, all I have to say is I've never gotten a speeding ticket as long as it was TURNED ON. Now if your girlfriend needs to use the cigarette lighter to charge her phone and disconnects it, well thats a different story.
The Ka band detection is extremely strong and picks up the bastards almost a 3/4 of mile in advance. Cops don't use K in my area so couldn't tell ya bout that. X is pointless and Laser detection is becoming progressively worthless now that the high end luxury cars coming equipped with laser features for crash avoidance. My advice, just turn laser off or you'll lose your god **** mind with false alerts.
5 stars, 10 out a 10, two thumbs way up.
