Question about Factory HIDs

Forgive me if this has been covered before, but do the factory HIDs have even a remotely defined cut-off line similar to vehicles equipped with projectors? I've never seen a Mustang with HIDs in person, and having a hard time figuring out what the beam looks like. Is it just like the halogens pattern-wise, but whiter and brighter?

Trying to determine which way to go with my '07. In the past, I've only gone with factory retrofits, but those retrofits always had the benefit of projectors. I think a retrofit in Mustang lights would have too much of an "eyeball" appearance.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not impressed with my factory HID's. While I haven't experienced the light pattern of a halogen stang, I would assume it's similar. While the color is definitely better, they seem to be not as bright. I use my fogs all the time too just to get more light and the light from the fogs seems to be brighter.

Darn it...the HID housing has a nice look to it, so I was hoping it would have the performance too.

That's just my opinion of them, don't rely on just what i have to say. I'm picky on things, they may be fine for others. I'm sure others will speak up and say something better.

I wonder if Ford had made any other changes than just the wiring for the hids, in that if the draw more power or not thus putting anymore of a load in the system ? then I wonder about just changing out the bulbs ? where as I had heard that if one did and they were differnt , that it would run a Warrenty concern.

A picky opinion is exactly what I'm looking for... I invested significantly in a set of retrofits for my truck. To put out $899 for factory or Saleen HIDs and not have the same output...I would not be the happiest kid on the block.

HIDs actually draw less power. Some folks have been experiencing issues with light flicker because the car gets confused that the lights are not pulling the programmed draw (35 watts, IIRC).

maybe that could goof the the ecm or something maybe a relay and watch them blame a differnt light doing it, so if I do something I'll ask my dealer & have them put them in then if it fails they sold it , they put them in , then it's on thier head.

I think the factory HIDs are fine. I read those issues in reference to the aftermarket "plug and play" HID kits.

They were on the car when i bought it, if i had a choice I would not pay the extra $500. for them. I dont really see that much of a difference.
