Camping was great... a little wet, though.
The cars have been covered in the garage since last Friday.
With the stock battery, the '06 never would have started after not being touched for over a week. This will be a good test for the Optima.

To help justify the cost, I'll still use .85.
Heck, my Taco battery was fine after sitting for a week. It's just these POS stock batteries that need constant charging.

I'm sure the Optima will be fine.

Later this morning, I'll try and get the car up to highway speed to check for any driveline vibrations. I need to put some closure as to whether or not I have any pinion angle issues.
If I'm good, the dyno is next.
If I don't report back by the evening, there's a good chance I got .

Believe it or not, it was dead!
So that really makes me think the stock batteries aren't as big of a POS as we thought. And I know it's not the car, because I've heard of many other people having the same problem.
It's just that monitoring system (whatever it's called) that's slowly killing it. And I don't have AAT, so it's not that.
I opened the door and now I can't close it until I get the charger on the battery. Not sure about the coupes, but if you close the door on a convertible without the window going down that inch, it closed on top of the top.

Dang... TOTALLY dead. I put the automatic charger/conditioner on it and thought the window would at least roll down, but no.
I'll let it do a 2A trickle charge over night.
The '89 fired right up with the same Optima battery (and I haven't started it since the stupid Vietnam show). See... no computer technology crap to drain it.

I'll just make my own name plate and put 1st on it! Or at least 2nd, dang...
PS... bet you guys can't type aѕѕ and make it stay!
And no copy and pasting my aѕѕ. Figure out how to make your own aѕѕ stay on the screen!

Back to the battery....
I switched the charger to 12V charging, and some stuff would work, but other things wouldn't. For instance, the headlights would come on very dim, but the interior lights wouldn't come on at all. The windows wouldn't work at all, and neither would the door locks or the remote.
I turned the key to ON, and the dash lit up, but the windows still wouldn't work.
Then, out of the blue, the CD changer started to go through the discs.
I opened the door and the interior light came on.
I turned the key to ON again and the windows worked, so I put the driver's window down but it only made it halfway (at least I can close the door)... and everything stopped working again.
About 5 minutes later, the CD changer did it's thing again.
Just kinda interesting how things started to work and how the car wouldn't "allow" things to work that it knew it didn't have enough power for.

I still think its the skipper 500.
I can leave mine unlocked in the locked garage for over a month with no problem.
I have never had a problem and I have the battery upgrade with the AAT.
I would have ordered no stereo if I could have, but I have the base model.

BTW, I noticed the same thing as you with regard to shutting the door with the windows all the way up. I did it by accident when I was installing my steering wheel, but didn't think much about it. I don't think it would do too much damage, in hopes that Ford took dead batteries into account when designing the car.
I made it!
All is well, no drivetrain vibration issues to speak of!
