Different size front and back and a directional tire, Bill? No rotating for you.
You'll want 255/45-18 in the front, and 295/40-18 in the back to maintain your tire height. But I can't find that size tire in the BFG's you want.

I'm not sure how the 45 and 40 factor in (visually), but I don't want the look of a huge sidewall.
I found this info from BFG's site..
255/40ZR18 Overall Dia 26.0
295/35ZR18 Overall Dia 26.1
It has our 235/50ZR18's at 27.3 overall dia.
Trying to picture how it'll look with the Ultralite drop is too confusing.

A 1" shorter tire will open your wheel well gap .5" The entire body and frame will lower the other .5"
From the side, the 255/45-18 and 295/40-18 look identical (they have the same sidewall height). It's only from the rear that you can tell that one is wider.
Put those two sizes in here:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
They are both approximately 27" tall, with the same sidewall.
Then put your stock tire size, 235/50-18 on the left, and 295/35-18 on the right to see how much smaller it would be.

That settles that because I do not need and additional .5" wheel well gap!
Now, just have to find some decent rubber that'll fit the bill. I know I was against it, but maybe the Triple Nickels come in those sizes?

But Discount Tire doesn't have any tires in that size... nor does Tire Rack.
Tire Rack has the 295/35-18 in the BFG's at $257 per tire... the 27" is just an odd tire height.
How about 275/40-18 (26.7" tall)? There's a bunch of tires in that size...

Leo, that’s exactly the tire I like and I will most likely slap on the GT. Just have to figure out what size given I'm pigeon holed into the 17x8 rim

Having the 18's probably helps you out somewhat Leo

Dang! I've seen the JLT's before, but that's one big azz filter!
And John, please clean that dust bowl!
(I kept my toes crossed! )
255's??? You and Leo are a bunch of pansies!
But Phil, you may want to expand your pigeon hole to an 18.

Then put your stock tire size, 235/50-18
In the next block, enter the tire size you're thinking about.
But to run some wide meats in the back looks pretty darn aggressive!
It just goes with my theme.
btw, would this be a whazoo?

Check out this pair owned by a couple ladies!

I think they mean business! Especially the one with the 4.10's!

Team Mustang Source
so are 255s the size limit for the 18" bullits ?? I like I was thinking about 275/45-18s of either the F1s or the KDW... when I need to buy tires that is.
