Three very good threads on headers. Two are tips for install and the other is just about gains.

Install tips pt1

Install tips pt2

Shorty header info.

Check it out. Stoptech/Roush big brake kit will fit with stock 18's as long as you use a 1" spacer.

Do you just use nail polish remover to take the clear out when your ready to fix it?

Good info on the spacers. How do you think the Stoptech BBKit would compare to the GT500 set-up/conversion? Would the braking power be comparable or would the Stoptech kit be much better than the GT500 kit

Those links are blocked at my work.

Are you sure they're header install sites?

Hmmm....not sure if the polish remover will have a negative affect on the paint/clearcoat. I'd say just leave the polish or don't put any at all.

I would say if your going to spend the money for brakes stay away from the GT500 kit. It's still a heavy *** one piece rotor with no slots/holes. Don't quote me on this but I also think the GT500 brakes are still only a two piston setup while the Stoptechs are 4 pistons.

Quick poll

Should I get stage 8 header bolts for my shorty install? From what I've read the bolts don't fasten down all the way on ours so it doesn't even lock which IMO defeats the purpose of using them over the stockers. I know Tom281 has said he used his stock bolts with no problems as well as a few other people. Plus I heard the fit on the stage 8 header bolts are tighter than a 3rd grader.

I reused the stockers with my longtubes and have had no loosening issues to date.

Good thing about having a second set of wheels is that you can change the look of the car any time you want... and have 4 spares!
You can buy my GT-500 wheels then. I think I'm going to stick to my originals.

Thanks Leo, I went ahead and ordered a kit from Autogeeks. It turns out there here in FL so hopefully I will get it pretty quick. I also ordered a bottle of touch up paint from Express paint so I should have everything I need. I will go tomorow and get some clear nail polish to put on in in the meantime unless I get lucky and they have some grabber orange nail polish

Cool so you'll be the test dummy instead of me.

Well, I just ordered the .7 bar (10.153 psi) spring for my wastegate.

That's as close as I can get to the 8.5 psi that I wanted. With my pressure drop through the intercooler, this should net me right around 8.9 psi.

The GT-500 wheels are great but it looks too much like a GT-500 now. I feel like poser, and I really love my bullits.

Leo forget the stage 8 bolts. IMO that's another "must have" that got carried over from previous generation stangs. As in, yes I would put them on my '92 5.0. Does that mean that I need them on my '06 too? No...... Every couple of months I check the tightness on the factory studs that I reused, and they're tight as can be. I also reused the factory gaskets since they're metal, and have not had issues there either FWIW.

Are you sure it won't be 9.0 psi?

Gotta love Tom, our Mechanical Engineer here in POTR.

Nope... I think it will be exactly 8.9 psi!

Guess I could just call it 9.0, huh?
