I think I'm going to go with these to match my springs:

http://www.steeda.com/products/steed...ble_shocks.php

Maybe I'll just get the struts and not the rear shocks.

Here's a link about them and Steeda says they are a great match for the Ultra Lite springs:

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=57108

Way cheaper than D-Specs and so far the only brand that lets you buy just the struts.

Per Steeda... "They are stiffer than D-specs at their softest setting."

If you're looking at getting rid of the 'busy' ride, these Steeda's may not do it.

I saw that, but I don't think we would want the D-Specs at their softest setting for our cars. Firm (or stiff) and "busy" are two different things. I don't mind firm. But I want a strut and/or shock that dampens properly and the stock ones aren't doing that - they aren't designed for lowered cars. They are out of their operating range and the rebound is not correct - that's where the "busy" comes in to play. If the ride is a little firmer but dampens properly, then that would be great.

That's why I hated the ride in my '03 GT with the Eibach Pros. It handled great, but sucked over bumps and uneven roads.

We believe our Steeda springs are the best for retaining ride quality... maybe these struts and shocks are naturally the next mod.

Also per Steeda: "lifetime warranty, best ride quality in their class"

I'll watch that thread (maybe even bump it along a little) and see if anybody that has them chimes in.

That's the best thing, user opinions. Although it may be a little while before people start buying them.

Oh come on you can do the mod in the garage so who cares if it's raining.:poke:

Just got back from the track where I won first place in the Fast Street class (9.00-9.99) Got the closest to 9.0 with a 9.018!! Prize was a nice huge trophy. Finally a 1st place trophy all though not for a car show. I also get my pic and name on Racelegal.com as well as my name in the SD paper which is pretty cool I think. The wife took a couple of vids which I'll have to figure out how to upload. Luckily she caught my winning run. Fastest run of the night was a 8.8.

Here's some pics of the trophy.

Leo, I have to back out from the garage to park it in the center (so both doors can swing wide open), so if it's going to rain later today... I'm scrubbin'. :(

Congrats on your 1st Place trophy!

But, I didn't install the antenna today.

Instead, I went to Circuit City and bought a Garmin c330.
I felt like installing this (in the 4Runner) more than the antenna.

I should look into an extra cradle so I can swap it between trucks.

At first I thought it would be impractical, but I found myself always printing out Mapquest directions or jotting them down on a Post-It to lots of places I go. And, if I had to take a detour from my printed map, I would be like, Uh oh... :banghead: .

Oh man that'd be tourture. Having to wait to put a cool new part on the car, argh.

I don't know if you got any but the ratcheting wrenches from Craftsman will help a good deal when you're installing the shifter. Primarily for the front bolt. I know a set is on my list for Christmas for that one reason !!!

A little off topic, but of use to those with the SCT II devices....

Today I was within hours of selling my 97 Mercury Sable (187K Miles) when it through a code of P1518. According to what I am reading online, it would mean the Intake Manifold Runner Control is stuck open. Probably due to me getting on it a bit recently. I had my buddy reset the code and I am ready to dump her. The read on it doesn't sound that serious. You folks who deal with these computer modules....what do you think the odds that it will throw that code again?...

Here's a writeup that I found on that code...

Not sure how long it'll take before it'll throw the CEL again. Just sell/trade the car ASAP!

Don't really feel like going into great lengths since it's not Mustang related but Christmas came early for me. The wife got me the exact same flat panel plasma Bill got. She got it at Walmart for $1294. It was the last one in that store.:metal: Needless to say I'm very happy. Although now I have no clue how to match or top that gift.

Looks like you can order it online if you don't mind getting it untill after X-mas.

That's awesome! I absolutely dig my 42" Panny.

Of course you know, the purchasing doesn't stop there. To get the most bang for the buck on a HD TV, you'll need at the minimum an Upconvert DVD Player (I have this one) or at a premium, a HD DVD (or Blue Ray) Player.

And don't forget about buying a HDMI cable to hook it up with (or at the minimum, an analog component cable).

You'll also need to upgrade your cable or satellite receiver to a HD receiver (in order to receive HD programming). Most all of these new HD receivers will utilize a HDMI cable or at least component cables (minimum requirement for HD).

Confused yet? Good! I was a couple weeks ago.

And to keep it Mustang releated, here's a 'cold start' video. It takes less than a minute for it to settle down to a 'quiet' idle. But before it does, it sounds euphoric.

I'd get 87P, 91P, and 91R. Of course, you'll end up just using the 91R like the rest of us. I'm only suggesting the 87 if you're ever stuck in some boonie gas station that only has regular.

Hey I have a non-Mustang related question real quick.

WTH do they call the adapters that allow you to connect your notebook to the Internet regardless of where you are. Not just a regular 802.11a/b/g wireless adapter, these either use satellite or wireless phone and charge a monthly fee if I remember right.

How much of a retard am I???

Ya know, I have been working on cars for years now. I consider myself pretty handy when it comes to cars until yesturdays episode.
I was at a touchless car wash yesturday(They are awsome) Did a interior detail. As I drove away ,I turned on my driving lights and notice that my dash lights were not working. OH SH%$, I broke my car. I tried and tried to get the dash lights on, the lights on the radio were not even working. After about 10 minutes of freakin out I rushed over to my ford dealership, ran inside , and set up an appointment right away to look at the broken electrical system. One of the guys said, we can't have ya driving around with no instrumentation, so they took me in right away.
As I sat in the witing room, a ford guy comes in and stated he wanted to show me something.Oh No, this is gonna be bad !!!! He took me over to the car and showed me that I turned down the interior light dimmer when I was wiping down my dash. I NEVER EVER FELT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STUPID IN MY LIFE. They laughed and laughed. Lucky I know these guys or i would be mad that they laughed so hard.

2006muzzy 12/13/06 10:34 AM

Oh yeah

Have a great day guys. Putting the mustang away today for the winter

Wow Tony, I would've never admitted to that! :jester:

Well, if it ever happens again, you'll know what to check first.

Almost forgot, this is for you... :slap:

File this one under Operator Error and be glad!:nice:

This is sorta like the Maytag check list...
#1 is it plugged in?
#2 is there power at the plug
#3 is the units power on?
#4 is the units display power on?
#5 is an internal fuse/ circuit breaker blown?
you won't believe how many times this is the answer to your problems and how many times I have flow across this contry and end up playing Maytag repair man!

But before it does, it sounds euphoric.

video link

Bill, I'll just email you response as I don't want to go into on the forum since it's not car related.

I saw Bill answered your question but I thought I'd throw in my .02. My friend has one of those from Verizon and he only pays $60 a month. It works great and of course the coolest part is you have internet wherever you go.

BTW-My rotors got here today. They're f-heavy. I opened them up and everything looks good. I'll probably be installing them sometime this weekend so Bill or Tom be prepared for some phone calls.

Stay tuned for his pics and report.

My day was just made a whole lot better. Coming back to work from a late lunch and I set off my first car alarm in a parking structure :metal:

Not as cool as Bill's and I don't have video, but it made me laugh as I was driving away !! Heck I wasn't even trying. Not taking the cats off isn't making it easy.

Rotor install less than 24hrs to go.

Bill-Couldn't help but notice you added gears to your list. Click on the link in my sig. It will take you to summitracing where you'll find the FRPP "gears of war" for almost $100 cheaper.

If you don't mind me asking, why the 3.73s over 4.10s ?? I saw a spreadsheet here that showed the 4.10 as not really making that much difference in 60+ MPH RPMs.... Just curious.

I've always thought that 4.10/4.11s would kill freeway driving but it seems everyone says the 4.10s dont on this car, I wondered if you know something that I should know ?

Good luck on the install. Can't wait to see the pics. They'll look great behind the new wheels :nice:

Then add $350 for the install - that's not something I suggest you do at "Bill's garage" (unless you like your rear end growling). Seriously, though, without the proper tools and know-how I would never attempt that myself.

Leo has 3.31s right now, so a jump to 4.11's would be huge for him. Personally, I would never go over 3.73 gears on a street car. 1st gear is just about useless with 3.73s, let alone 4.11s. And gas mileage will drop for either.

The only reason I changed gears in my '89 was because it only had 3.08s. That was way too high and needed to be changed to 3.55s or 3.73s. I chose 3.73s since I don't drive it every day.

Well like Tom said I have an automatic that comes with 3.31 gears unlike the sticks that come with a 3.55. From reading several threads on various forums the consesus seems to be that if you have an auto you shouldn't go higher than 3.73. Although I've also seen some people with autos get 4.10 and swear by it. So untill I find someone with an automatic that has 4.10's and is willing to give me a ride I'm sticking with 3.73.

The thought never crossed my mind. I already know which shop I'm taking them to once I get them. Either way gears won't be on my car for atleast half a year if not more. Thanks for warning though.:nice:

Goodevening !!do You Know Why I Pulled You Over

1:30 Am Coming home from work. Got pulled over by a state trooper.Oh dang. Wasn't speeding. 'goodevening officer" -"goodevening,do you know why I pulled you over?" "NO" -"Your exhaust" "Yeah ,I have flowmasters on the car" " did you know that any modification in New York state is illegal?"
"No I didn't , It said on the box that they were 50 state legal"
"your neighbors must love you, have a good night"
WOW- No ticket and the 2 officers left with smiles on their face.
it was bound to happen. these mustang with the O/R pipe sound like nascars.I guess i have to start driving it like a baby at night to avoid all the attention.

I have gotten pulled over once, no ticket, for running with my headlights and running lights on at the same time. Never for exhaust though.
I doubt the mufflers would be illegal, but the O/R H-Pipe is. :nice:

LEO_06GT 12/16/06 12:41 AM

I have the same setup as you and haven't had any problems. All I see cops doing is checking the car out never had a problem so far. (Knock on wood) Like Daryl said the O/R H is illegal but the flowmasters are A-OK. :metal:

2006muzzy 12/16/06 01:26 AM

I still have the x-pipe

I still have the x-pipes on. haven't put the h-pipe on yet. When I decelerate the car screams this raspy sound. Loud as heck. ( by watching the vids) The H-pipe doesn't give off that sound. It sounds deeper and doesn't have that back lash farting sound between gear shifts.I hate the x pipe. can't wait to take it off.

LEO_06GT 12/16/06 01:54 PM

Well I'm back from installing the rotors at Bill's. I won't have the pics untill later when he uploads them. The install went good with only one minor problem. The problem came when trying to remove the rear stock rotors. I guess since I drive my car daily, rain or shine rust had developed between the back of the rotor and the "stud plate" (probably not what its called but you get the point) so when we went to pull it off it was stuck and wouldn't budge. So we ended up having to hit the stock rotors with a hammer. A few good hits and it came right out rotor intact. Total time for install was a little over 2 hours. Very easy install if you have the tools I'd say this is a really easy mod to do and really adds to the car. My calipers really stand out now which is a bad because they're not very clean. So I think my next mod will be some black G2 caliper paint.

Tom- Kevin got a pic of the door trim from the inside. I'll post it here once I get it.

89Trooper 12/16/06 02:07 PM

That would be between the rotor and the "axle".

But, that is normal... Even mine had to be hit with a mallet to get off after the little bit of mileage I had on the car. Bill's probably fell off!

habu 12/16/06 05:42 PM

Thanks guys for the info on the gears. I did find the spreadsheet and for a manual tranny, mine, the diff is 300 rpms at 70mph... if it's correct.

Congrats on the Rotor install  It's a B___CH when they won't come off nice and easy. My last car, a VW GTi, had a phillips screw that held the rotor on the axle and I stripped it out and had to buy a screw extractor set to get them out. Thankfully it looks like you avoided that fate. Get them rotors painted and snap some pics.

BTW did you get the drilled or Slotted rotors? or the drilled and slotted ones ?

Have you guys seen the most recent pics of SHR's louvers? If not check out the thread they look amazing they're going onto my list. I think I'm going to pre-order them so I can save money as I assume the price will be closet to $200 once they're released.

I saw them in person, on the SHR car... they look great! You do realize that you have to remove the quarter glass to install them, right?
