So, did you finally see it?? Don't get snooty with ME!

OK, then... did you BOTH finally see it? By the way, Leo, there has to be a +1 before there can be a +2! If you just say +2, that means a total of 3 people agree on something... so who's the third? Huh? Huh?

I was showing the emblem from "afar"...

Tom, your picture was so dark, I had to use PSP to lighten the picture before I could even see it.
When you said subtle I knew what is was though.
From what I can tell it looks cool , but I had to lighten the entire image so it looks like crap now
The latest image you posted won't come up. Gives me some administrator contact page

DARYL!

Could it be your monitor? I know our monitor at work is darker than the one I have here. I brightened them up a bit... not sure what happened with the 2nd picture I posted... can anybody else see it?

Attachment 11568 Attachment 11569

In the first one, I edited the picture and removed the one vertical part of the scoop "grille". I left it in the second one.

Okay, now I see it. Why didn't you just say the scoop's vertical rib between the 'h' and the '1'?

Yea that is much better Tom. It looks great.
You definitely need to spray that support a darker black though, it is very distracting IMO.

And wouldn't Susan be Blonde and Leo and Bill Blond

How about the "Mach 1" sprayed gloss black to make the distinction between the emblem and the RIB? It still wouldn't stand out as much as chrome would.

As far as blonde/blond goes... According to my dictionary, it's acceptable either way!

—Usage note: The spelling blonde is still widely used for the noun that specifies a woman or girl with fair hair: The blonde with the baby in her arms is my anthropology professor. Some people object to this as an unnecessary distinction, preferring blond for all persons: My sister is thinking of becoming a blond for a while. As an adjective, the word is more usually spelled blond in reference to either sex (an energetic blond girl; two blond sons), although the form blonde is occasionally still used of a female: the blonde model and her escort. The spelling blond is almost always used for the adjective describing hair, complexion, etc.: His daughter has blond hair and hazel eyes.

I think making the support disappear would be better, but that is just my opinion.

This is directed towards Tom.

Welcome back Daryl. About time you post in here.

Tom- I agree with Daryl make the support disappear. After seeing that I don't want one anymore. You almost conned me into getting one with your photoshopping madness. If you find away to hide it then I'll reconsider getting one.

Bill- You never cease to amaze me with the amount of smilies you have. Seems like you have one for just about anything.

You are acting like it looks bad, or something. In person it looks absolutely AMAZING! I'll let you know how many "WOWs!" I get this Saturday. You are almost getting as picky as Bill and me! I bet you NEVER would have noticed that rib if I didn't point it out!!

Heck, I told Bill 100 times where to look, and he couldn't see it!

I liked your talking smiley!

Well I can't notice things when you photoshop them out. It caught my eye. Just doesn't look the same with that support there. It's very "intrusive" IMO. Still looks good it's just that it lost a couple points in my book. It was a 10+ now it's a 8 or 9.

"You are almost getting as picky as Bill and me!"

I'll take that as a compliment. Glad you liked the smiley.

Hell I didn't understand what your where telling Bill. I thought you were talking about a chrome clasp the snaps over the horizontal support.

I know, that's why I wanted to point it out in the next pic I posted.

Don't forget... it's held in with clips, and you might see those, too!

I'm in a smart-alec mood... must be my leg hurting me!

Here's the first thing I told everybody (I didn't even mention "chrome" or a "clasp", nor did I mention "snaps" or "horizontal"):

"Because I know you will ask, Leo, here is how it looks before I blacked out the support in the picture. All the other supports are covered by the letters, but there is the one that is impossible to cover. See it betwen the H and the 1? Doesn't look bad, but because the letters are also flat black, they blend together a little. That's why I'm thinking of painting the "Mach 1" gloss black."

Thinking about it, I love the look of that Mach 1 emblem so much, I really don't want to hide it as much as I previously thought I would. Don't get me wrong, I don't want it chrome, but I think the gloss black will stand out just enough (from that "ever so annoying" rib), and still be hidden enough to not see at first glance. Plus, it will match the gloss black stripe that is only inches away.

So, I put one light coat of gloss black on holding the can from far away so the paint would almost dry before adhering. This gives a texture similar to the scoop itself. Then I put two more coats of gloss black on, and one coat of clear. Then I baked it in the oven for 5 minutes at 200 degrees and then let it cool (we'll see if I get yelled at when my wife gets home for the house smelling like paint). It came out really nice. I even painted the ends of the clips gloss black (up to the thickness of the emblem) to match the emblem, and the rest of the clips flat black to match the scoop.

Even though I'm still thinking about putting them on with a piece of ultra-thin 3M tape running horizontally along the center rib of the scoop. Everything that happens helps the emblem stay in place (wind when driving & intake sucking). This would be much cleaner without the clips.

No pics tonight (cause over here it's getting dark), so we'll all have to wait until the morning (even me) to see how it ends up looking on the car.

--------------

What? Did everybody fall of the face of the earth at the same time?

--------------

I got both my posters back today... Office Max did a great job. They didn't do the first one on the first day like they told my wife, so the foam backing was free for the show poster (the one Kevin made)! It's like $2 for printing and lamination, and $10 for the foam board backing, plus tax. The PhotoBucket Qoop picture didn't need to be laminated, so the end cost was $13.50 ($6.75 per poster average). I'll take some pictures of them tomorrow in the better light.

--------------

Anybody need an exhaust??

Can't wait to see the pics Tom.

Well I just got back from celebrating my 4 year wedding aniversary. We went to dinner and then saw Disney on Ice at the San Diego Ipayone arena. In case your wondering WTF she loves anything Disney. I got us front row seats and it actually wasn't as boring as you may think. As an added bonus she gave me $150 to spend on top of already getting me my chin spoiler. Hard not to love someone when they support your mod addiction. Which brings me to the following question which handful of mods on my list should I get?

Chime in on the following options or provide your own suggestions. Remember $150 so don't go crazy.

Option 1
Floor Mats & OEM Leather armrest

Option 2
MGW cup holder, rad cap, oil cap, dipstick handle

Option 3
Poster stand from afterthoughts.com and something and a couple of other things.

I saw those and I do like them. Adds something to an otherwise boring area. I would put the $150 toward them (like I said before, the little things (mats, MGW, poster stand) you can buy yourself... get the big things when you get handed $150. After 11 years, it's hard to think of my wife "giving" me money... it's all our money.

So tell us how bad your wife yelled at you for using her oven as a paint curing booth.

I'm not sure if the 3M idea will work for the long run. It would be pretty embarrassing if that emblem fell off and went skimming accross your hood in traffic.

I received my QOOP posters in great (shipping) condition and everything looks good. I'll try and make it to Kinkos by the weekend. Tom, please post how your posters look on the foam backing.

I think Susan can use a set of those Borla Stingers... Maybe she'll barter something she has with you in exchange for the Stingers.

Front row seats to an Ice skating venue??
Well at least it was kind of an investment since you got some mod money in return. Which leads me to your options... get Option 2.

btw- Congrats on your anniversary! (14 yrs for me )

Pass. I thought of it at one point (like you are now), but came to my senses within a week.
