Look down by the oil filter you will find the stock sending unit. you can either swap out the stocker for the after market one and bypass the factory gauge or tap the aftermarket one onto it like this..
when i did mine I removed the stock sendor and ran the aftermarket one.

thanks i bought the block n everything separate so theres no sending unit lol .i just screwed the line from the guage itto the block lol. so im gonna have to get a sending unit?

you can get the extension for the sendor here..

or junk yard
if it's an aftermarket gauge then try summit or jegs. If it's factory then parts store or if you use above company for extension then..
