Am I crazy?
I am seriously considering trading my torch red 2010 GT premium for an 04 Cobra Vert. Mine has is a 5 sp manual with 3.73s and comfort package, Shaker 500 etc ans has 11K miles on it. Cobra is Silver with black top and 23K miles. I have never driven a New Edge but that Cobra is pure sex. Am I crazy to consider this? My original plan for the 10 was to see what the 50th Anniversary Stangs looked like and either trade for one of those or supercharge this one if I did not like them. Would like to hear opinions on folks who have driven the Termis.

The cobra is a great car but the 10GT is also great. I do believe that your 10 will resale a bit higher than the cobra. Any money exchanging or is this a straight swap? Drive the cobra first and give it some hell when you do. It's a completely different animal. It's not as comfortable to drive as your 10 and definitely not as safe. The terminator is pure sex to look at and drive though. If you are not losing any money on the deal, I would possibly consider it because of the potential the terminator has. I will probably be upgrading to a used Shelby in a few more years but am very happy that I own the terminator. It's a beast.

The good news is that from here forward the Cobra will depreciate at a slower rate than the 10GT. But it is 6 years newer. Basically you can get the Cobra and drive it for 2 years and at the end of that two years you will have lost less money with all things being equal. This doesnt take into account current value.

Wouldn't do an even swap though. Would sell the 10 and buy the cobra. Just not a smart deal to do an even swap. Hell I would consider that deal and just flip the 10 for a profit. And then Buy another cobra of course. Lol

I am curious what you mean by the 10 being safer, is there something specific, or are you just refering to the general advances in safety as it is a newer car?

Word. The '66 is an awesome car, but doesn't hold a candle to the current stuff. Not even close.
/I still want mine back though, because Muskrat was really cool.
//Oh, and by the way, for the record, yes, you are crazy. There is no way I'd make the trade, unless it was to pay me handsomely to do it. The Cobra is a niche car, and carries niche car prices for parts. I learned my lesson via an '86 SVO. Keep your '10.

Throwing my opinion in. I would trade my 07GT in a heartbeat for a Terminator. I have seen a Termi only 1 time in person and hands down I couldn't pick my tongue up off the ground. Some guy up here is trying to sell his HEAVILY modified 04 Terminator with a Kenne Bell Mammoth swap, intercooler, and a dump load of other mods with only 25k miles for like $23,000. I would trade in my ride and drive the bejesus out of a ride like that. He has the car Dynoed at something like 600+HP on a conservative tune. It was love at first glance.

I've had lived with both an SN95 (albeit not a cobra) and the new '11 S197.
In terms of daily driving, at a purely functional level you would be going backwards with the new edge. Isn't as roomy, as refined, as many creature comforts, etc.
However if I was building strictly for performance, the 4.6 4V all the way - just much more proven performance.
You want 400+ HP in a 3600 lb package with modern comforts and a warranty that you can drive daily? That's why they have the 5.0.
