And as far as the new si's, that's like comparing apples to oranges. If I were to line my 95 GT up against a new SI, I'd put all my money on the SI. I would go as far as saying the 99-04 GTs would have a hard time with them as well.
You can't compare new technology to old. The new sixxers are great, but don't discredit the 3.8s or the 4.0s. Both were great motors in their own right.
I've seen a video of a 01, I believe, 3.8, that was put in neutral and pinged the rev limiter for 7 minutes before it gave out. And on tear down, the damage was minimal. Hell the grass **** near caught on fire before the motor went.
Not to mention there's a couple 94-98 3.8s running in the 10s and one that I believe has dipped into the 8s. And those are supposedly the crappier 3.8s made.
I guess my point is, you can respect the new v6 because they are fast from the factory, but you can't discredit the older ones either.
To answer your question, both. Now this was 9 years ago, so the si's weren't much to write home about and the regular civics were worse. But I can't say I ever lost to a civic that wasn't boosted. I even got the only vr6 jetta I ever lined up against.

99-04 were rated at a 15.5 1/4. My best was a 15.7 on street tires so id say that's a good rating. running and watching civics of a similar year, I couldn't say a single one would get me, even on a bad run.

Lexi after your conduct the other night on a different post about the new v6 and the misrepresentation of the facts I would appreciate you stay of my posts if you are going to be negative and argumentative. Failure to comply will result in a complaint to the Mods.
There is no need to dispute everything someone post about a V6 on the forum. So time to please move on.

I rented an 11 V6 and and I was "challenged" on the highway by a 05-09? GT.
honestly, I despise racing or the stupidity of the argument...however, (feeling mischievous that day)....
well...neck and neck, the V6 took the GT by a nose to my surprise. And yes, he was giving it all it had and so was I. (Respectfully, Please don't argue about that statement. It's honest and I won't respond to flamers.)
My 2000 SC put 365hp in the heyday of her youth... It's hard to believe that my blown V8 only put down 60 or so more horses than these new V6 siblings. I'm proud of the new V6 platform and I eagerly await the turbo 4.
Instead if arguing, lets embrace the new V6 technology and appreciate its economical advancements.

I have not for a minute regretted buying my V6. It is way more than fast enough for me. I have not had the opportunity to run autocross with it, but I expect it to be a hoot. I don't expect to be the fastest out there, but as long as I run clean and improve my time on each run I'm a happy camper. I know some folks have a real need to WIN, but I can live very nicely with being respectable and having folks say what a beautiful car that is. Driving my Mustang is about making ME happy.

I have to agree. The 3.7 V6 is **** respectable, but there is NOTHING like the sound of a nicely cammed V8. I also have a deep-seated love for pushrod motors.
