Mustang AND iron horse
Mustang AND iron horse
In addition to loving Mustangs I also love trains, especially old trains. I found this photo on a railroad photo site and just couldn't resist posting the link here. Check out the Mustang pacing that beautiful, old iron horse.

I'm surprised there aren't more stories from hollywood about the railroads, the companies and the process of expanding the country in what was then a very, very short amount of time. All kinds of graft, greed, robber-barons, political intrigue, monopolization, vertical integration, anti-trust establishment and resulting legislation...just the story of the Southern Pacific alone is a really engaging saga.
If you ever get to New Mexico you should not miss the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. They do a day trip up into Colorado and back. Magical.
This spring on our National Parks driving tour we hope to take in a re-enactment of the driving of the golden spike in Utah.
