I have never gotten an autograph from anyone. It isn't a thing a do. I've met some famous people but I figure they deserve their time too.
His cars were my favorite. First model my father bought me was a Shelby Cobra. I have to resist the urge to buy anything just because it says Shelby on it.

I never got to meet the man, but he was nice enough to send a box of autographed (authenticated) things to a fundraiser our local Club held when I was awaiting my heart transplant. Of coarse I'll never forget him or his generosity. The Club gave me one of the autographed hats that I keep in a display box and only hear to car shows.
A greatly missed force.

In my opinion the Shelby American groups management had tarnished the name a bit the last few years, things like the 23,000.00 replacement hood and such- and that was a shame, but the achievements of 'the man' were pretty cool when measured with any yardstick one could imagine.
Brad Barnett that used to own this site had met Shelby, theres pics in here somewhere- sittin down with a guy like him for a chat HAD to be one cool experience. auto/racing stuff, yep, very cool- but helping organ transplants to save lives is where most of his long term fame should be

thats really cool Steve- Shelby did a lot of neat stuff thru his life, but his organ donor foundation stuff will live on longer than anything.

Yes, Brad is also a great guy and did meet him back in 2007 I think when the new 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustang was launched!!
Thanks........I just wanted the man's history to be told and make sure the younger kids/Mustang fans knew what all he did and accomplished...........his autobiography is a MUST read!! Tons of cool stuff even me (a rabbid Mustang nut) did not know!!
I vaguely remember seeing him walking around the garages during Indy 500 practice back in the 70's sometime. I was just a kid, but I was always a huge racing fan & knew who he was.
