Making a 2001 4.6 GT Fast?

Hey guys, so I'm about to have about 5-6k in my pocket to dump into my car, I really want to stick with my 01 GT but I want it to be making about 400 HP, so I guess my question is, what's the best way to go about this?
I've been thinking about rebuilding the engine to hold that much power, then going supercharger? What would it cost to build a 2v 4.6 to a point to even handle that? Would it be cheaper to coyote swap it? Cobra 4v swap it?
Again I have about 5-6k, not sure what I'd be looking at here as the most effective to get around 400 or more HP
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Currently on the car is just a full bolton setup, x pipe exhaust, ingition, throttle body, air intake etc

CJ Pony Parts sells a supercharger for a little over $5,000.

those engines take a lot of cash to make not much more hp. I would agree with David. Engine should be OK with a sc on it stock. I think you would be very happy if you used that money and trade to buy an 05 or newer gt. Worlds apart in many ways.

No idea who who are, what you are about, what your car is about or anything else. There is a world where your plan makes perfect sense.

But just shooting from the hip...

- Your car is worth a max of $6k on a good day.
- You are talking about tossing another $6k at a 20+ year old car that doesn't exactly have collectible written all over it.
- That's all cool, but know that you are never going to get close to that money out of it. And it's still going to perform like an old Mustang.
- That same money could step you up to a very decent S197 GT.

Now if your house is all paid off, and you don't have any student loan debt, and you have a stable of other reliable cars please ignore me.

You're planning on putting nearly 5k into a car that on a good day probably isn't worth that much if you sell. That's just not good strategy. Look for a nice '05 - '09 S197. You'll be glad you did.
