Well Im 19 and im lookin to buy my first car. Which I would love to be a stang. Ive been looking around for awhile now. When I first started looking I was really looking into 5.0's. That was because of the issue of money. Older cars that are going to be cheaper (plus I just love the hatchbacks, to bad my dad sold his). None of those were in great shape. High mileage and needed work. Then I was thinking about going to an auction, I would probably be able to find a newer one for a really good price. And I met someone who would bring me to one thats supposed to be really good in upstate NY. But then I dunno what Im really buying at that point. Now im debating in just getting a brand new 05 stang. I would love a GT but if I was to get an 05 I would probably have to go for a V6 coupe. Its all to confusing at the moment. Hopefully Ill find something soon. So until then im gonna continue to check out these boards for all the info I need. B)

welcome to the board. Something i'd look for is a 99+ gt. Good strong motor starting out and you should be able to find one for a good price on a good taken care of used one.

Be sure to get a quote on insurance before you jump into this.

Thanks all!

And as for insurance Ive already done alittle bit of research on that. I was quoted at $4500. But whether it be a GT or a coupe its still going to be $4500. And after 6 months as long as I have a clean record it'll go down too 1800 I believe. Which means no speeding for me for awhile.

$4,500 ???

I have 2000 Mustang V6 and I only pay $1,200/year for insurance. I'm 20 years old. Actually, me, my mom, and my dad together pay $1,200/year for insurance for Mustang.

Together, there are 3 drivers (me, my mom, and my dad), 3 cars (1994 Toyota Camry V6, 1997 Dodge Intrepid, and 2000 Ford Mustang V6) and we pay $160/month for them (for all 3 of them). There is also my dad's 2001 Freightliner Century Class Truck, but that's different story.

Maybe it has something to do with living in NY? I know a few other people that started off paying a lot like that too. So I dunno. Or maybe its just the insurance company I was dealing with.

me (21) my brother (19), my mum and dad only pay about 2,500 a year total for 5 cars (a 1992 mercury grand marquis, 1992 nissan sentra, 1987 ford aerostar, and a 1989 chevy celebrity station wagon, and a 1985 honda civic)
we are very lucky, especially since we live in los angeles.

my girlfriend has a '99 v6 mustang and pays like 2,500 by herself. it stinks to have a mustang when youre young
another good reason why i should wait to get a stang

edit: 5 cars!

hi,

I am also new to the board, and am picking up the 2002 GT 'vert that I just bought tomorrow. If you can afford a 2005 V-6, you can easily afford a GT between '99 all the way up to 2004.

That insurance is pretty steep. I only pay about $1200 a year. I'd suggest shopping around. If you are military I'd suggest USAA.

USAA is good and so is State Farm (cheaper than Allstate) My 2002 GT convt only costs me 1200/year (full coverage with $200 deduct) and i live in NY. I was quite surprised and very happy. Hopefully when I get the 05 Convt it will be just as reasonable. Good luck!
