Keep the stang or get a diesel?

I've recently been considering selling my 2010 gt for a diesel truck like a 7.3. What would you guys do?

If your doing it just to do it I wouldn't. If theres a reason such as towing etc. then go right on ahead.

A 7.3 is like a 7 year old truck now. Actually 8 years old at least.

But weren't they the better ones? Vs the flame thrower power stroke?

Absofreakinlutely. Just saying they've got 8 year old interiors and electronics and scratched beds and shocks and springs and so on. Great farm truck or work truck or hauler. But not so great as a daily driver with no purpose.

Honestly... Once you deleted all the emissions. The power "choke" is actually a good engine with pretty good lifespan...

Well I kinda want something I can haul my cows to and from the sale, use for hunting, pulling stuff for work, and my once a month hay run. And I'm not really concerned about it being old. I'm 18, it ain't gotta be fancy lol. It's either that or a 12v or 24v cummins or a 7.3. I'd even consider a duramax. The only thing I'm opposed to is a 6.0 powerstroke.

It's one of the best ever built in my opinion.

Maybe I can enlighten you on the Powerstroke to help make an informed decision... !
- if your just looking for a Farm style use truck that's not going to be hauling 15,000+ lbs and its not going to be a daily driver... Take this into consideration

-96+ 7.3 are very affordable, reliable and towing up to about 10,000lbs is pushing it
-99 is the redesign and what many think of as the first real Powerstroke evolution... Power increase was finally over 500lb/ft - reliable and great durability. However the 7.3 could not meet emission ratings for the end of 2003 MY which lead to the end of production for the 7.3
-03-07 the 6.0 many people are afraid of the 6.0... They obviously had their problems with head gaskets... Turbos..coolers ... Egr valves ... That being said ... In my opinion I would not be afraid of a later model (05-07) with the proper modifications and EGR cooler delete, proper coolant ( cleaner the better) and proper maintenance these engines thrive... The higher revving quicker response and engine management system is much more advanced and in my opinion a much more fun truck to drive! - also Ford redesigned the front suspension to a torque arm/ coil spring style front suspension - it does not compromise any strength of the old leaf spring set up but is far superior in ride quality .
-08-10 6.4 is a redesign of the 6.0 to meet even stricter emissions standards and now a common rail high pressure fuel delivery system and much more in depth emissions devices - these engines are very responsive to the tuner industry but a complete pain to work on ... Good luck ... But there all Fords so you can't go wrong!

My dad had an 06 and made the mistake of letting someone put a chip on it.

Even though I begged him not to.

Lost a turbo. Fixed it. Blew a head gasket. Traded it on another 06. Didn't put a chip in that one and we still have it and it's been flawless. Use it for hauling equipment and our trash trailer.

Had a 99 before that first 06. Should have just kept it. The best looking truck I've ever seen. silver crew cab 4x4 with lots of black accents.

Thanks for the info! Yea if I got a 6.0 I'd want it to be bulletproofed already lol
