That sounds like something in the dash that switches from heat to vent to A/C. Not a water pump, if it was it would be running hot in the warm weather. Maybe a stuck thermostat, but I figured that might throw some kind of code on the newer cars with coolant temp sensors being tied into everything else.

Im wantin to take it to autozone to get scanned for any trouble codes. I was sittin in second gear at 40-45mph just get a little bit of heat goin through the vents. For about 10-15 minutes too

That really sounds like a thermostat stuck open (at least on older cars). But I figured these newer ones would throw a CEL over something like that with the idling, throttle etc. being tied into when the engine got warm based on the coolant temp sensor.

Hell, take the thermostat out, put it in a pan of water on the stove and see if it opens and closes when the water heats up and cools down.

No fixing it, just put a new thermostat in it. They're cheap.

Never bought one for a late model car, but I figure 15-20 bucks. Check online at some auto parts stores. But make sure thats what it is first before you buy one.

I was just going by older cars I've had. The thermostat gets stuck open and it wont heat up because the coolant keeps flowing constantly instead of being held by the thermostat until it gets to a certain temp before it opens.
