Hammering? WOW!

There should be a release. Probably a hole in the bottom of the base, you insert a small screw driver in, it pushes a metal tab away from a notch, and it slides off. Or, maybe there is a set screw? Not sure what exactly they are using.

Interior Rear View Mirror
CAUTION: The interior rear view mirror is of the break-away design. Excessive force in any direction may cause damage to the mirror or the windshield.

Removal
1. Position the interior rear view mirror in the full up position.
2. Insert a suitable tool between the bottom of the mirror mount and bracket. Push upward on the tool until the mirror mount is released from the bracket.

Okay, I got it off, I just got pissed off and pulled it with all my might and it came right off no damage. The install of the auto dimming/comp/temp mirror was very easy. Probably 30 minute installation but I couldnt find the firewall plug to go through and had the hard time with the mirror, I love the new mirror, thanks for your help
