YouTube videos are a very good source that provide step by step instructions.. In my honest opinion, YouTube would be your best option and I'd start there.

I'm not sure an SN95 ever came with a factory subwoofer, though I could be wrong. I know the Mach 460 system didn't have a dedicated subwoofer to speak of. I think they were like the Shaker systems, and used the larger, lower door speakers as "subs." IF that's the case, then you could re-route the speaker wires going to the lower door speakers, or even T them off, to feed power/signal to a standalone subwoofer.

If you want to add a subwoofer and a dedicated amp (would most likely sounds best), that can most likely be achieved by a Line Out Converter (if you want to keep the factory stereo head unit), or by swapping to an aftermarket head unit and adapter harness.

I'm also not really certain if the Mach 460 systems had a dedicated subwoofer either.. I don't ever recall seeing a 99-04 SN-95 new edge that had one.. Perhaps there might be a subwoofer line-out behind the Mach 460 head unit, but I wouldn't count on it. Therefore, I fully agree if the OP wants to add a subwoofer to his factory head unit, his best option would be connecting a line-out converter from the head unit to a dedicated amp.. I'm not even certain if the Shaker 500 head units have a dedicated line-out, whereas the Shaker 1000 systems do have a factory 10" subwoofer located in the trunk compartment.

I just replaced a Shaker 500 head unit in a '07 Shelby GT earlier this week, I can confirm it has no factory line out port. Kind of disappointing, but what are ya gonna do, right?

When it comes to Ford's bean counters, it doesn't really come as any surprise to me at all lol. I suppose it would just be asking too much from Ford to include a factory line-out port on the Shaker 500 head units, unlike the Shaker 1000 head units which do.. Therefore, if you want a factory system which includes a subwoofer? the customer has to pay an additional $500-$1000 for the Shaker 1000 over the Shaker 500 system..
Just another fine example of Ford's marketing strategy at work
