Heat inside Cabin

I have a 2010 GT and the reason I'm posting this is because my gf has been complaining for a while now stating that the floor inside the cabin is HOT! She says its so hot that it seems like the heater is on when it isn't. One time we went somewhere and we got to our location and she told me her purse was Hot from sitting on the ground. I touched her purse and it was HOT for the heater not being on. It wasn't even hot in the cabin for it to even get hot. It was a perfect day in Cali not to hot or cold just perfect. I myself wondered also why it could be Hot but never seemed to know why. I was thinking if its because maybe the last setting before I turned the heater off was set to the ground but I doubt it because its still Hot over here in SoCal so it would be ridiculous for me to use the Heater. Any suggestions what this could be?? Lol

The floor and bottom of the center console would get pretty warm in my '06 GT all the time, especially on long drives. I always attributed it to heat from the exhaust and tranny. Never had any problems.

There is an effective insulation called Reflectix; it is kind of like bubble wrap sandwiched between Space Blankets, so it is pretty thin. Could this be inserted between the carpet and floorpan to reduce cabin heat? Just a thought.

If you think Mustangs are hot stock, wait until you add long tubes and a 3" side exhaust. I doubt tere is any insulation under the carpet.

Exhaust-wise, all I had on my stang was axle-backs and the floor got warm. It was hot-ish to the touch, and would heat up anything on the floor. Pretty sure it's normal. If it bothers you that much though, you should look into that Reflectix stuff Mickstang mentioned and lay it down under your carpet....or you can just blast the A/C into the footwells. Lol.
