Harbor Freight Jack and Stands

Anyone have any knowledge or experience with the jack and jack stands from Harbor Freight? Some stuff is good, some is crap.

They have a 3 ton jack and 4 jack stands for $106. Is it a good deal or will it crush me with it's crappiness one day?

I bought the racing floor jack from them for like $150. However, went with trusted Craftsman jack stands. Figured I could trust the jackstands from Craftsman since I will be under the car with them. I liked getting a good discount on the floor jack so I could get a racing high speed one cheap and won't be under the car with just it supporting. I had same reservations you do

Although I'm sure they'd be fine, I generally steer away from HF items if it's going to be frequent/heavy use, or if safety is a concern. What is it, maybe $15 more for name brand jack stands? Even if there is no difference in quality, the peace of mind is worth the extra cash IMO.

I got the Harbor Freight low profile jack, used it numerous times so far with no problems. If you plan on lowering your car, definitely get the low profile jack, I have my car dropped on Steeda Sports, and the jack has just enough room to slide under the front of the car, the rear has a little more space.
