Handling vs. Power
Handling vs. Power
Which one do you think will do you more good? Have more fun with? Ive seen it mentioned a couple times that a car with suspension mods will beat a car with more power (I'm not sure to what extent). I don't know if it's true, but I also stumbled across a motor trend article today too that was comparing the sgt, roush and saleen back in 08 maybe. It said the sgt was the best in certain categories and I attributed it to the frpp handling pack.
I'd be interested to hear what you know, or what you've seen about go fast goodies vs. handling great.

If you're looking for fun, power first. Handling can be done a piece at a time. You can tweak the suspension as you go to handle the power. Nuthin more fun than an overpowered mustang. Strap in and hang the hell on!
What he said! Suspension mods will improve your cars performance in the twisty-turnies, but for straight line performance between two points, it's all about power (as transmitted thru the wheels to the pavement-- burning rubber gets you no place, fast).
Horsepower is absolutely addicting. Even if you have gotten to the point of your car being barely controllable. The GO pedal is where it's at. Less can be said about suspension unless you're one of those road course fanatics. But I can tell you that road course racing is much harder on a vehicle than any other racing.
if you improve your suspension to work in the turns you will also be improving your 1/4 time.
You can improve your suspension with out adding more power and in turn improve your 1/4 mile time

There doesn't have to be 'one or the other.' You can have a nice balance of power and handling. And there is also the benefit of having a better chassis than previous generations. I wanted my Mach to handle better so that has been my focus (plus I've hit 12.9 at the dragstrip on DRs without any power/tune mods so I've been content . . . at least for the last few years.) I participate in more road rallies nowadays so a tighter chassis/suspension is what I've wanted.
I'm coming to the realization that my car is a little overdone to enjoy every day. Good thing I don't even drive it every week. Lol. But it's a hell of a rush when I do bring it out.

When in doubt whip it out!
What about whenever they compared the roush and the boss on top gear? Kind of the same question. I realize the boss had a better time on the track bc that's what it's made for, but what about drag strip or street or any other setups? What do you guys think?
