..... a '65-68' maybe with a pointed front end, kind of opel-looking. I drive buy this car a couple times a month taking my daughter to college. It's parked just off the road with some others. Pointed towards the road and under a makeshift canopy. A custom? I keep looking at it hoping it's not some pre-production/one off piece that wound up out here. Anyone?

It could be the fibrefab front end. I remember reading about this front-end treatment in Mustang & Ford about 10 years ago. It was a rare front end that was made by a custom fibreglass fabricator. From what I remember off the top of my head, the company was based in the detroit area and went belly-up in the 70's. There were a few of the clips made but the molds were destroyed after. I can dig up the article over the christmas holidays.

Does it look something like this?

Never heard of that. So I did a little digging (googled "fiberfab mustang").

Here's another pic:

The company has been recreated, there is some history on their site: Fiberfab Site

Look in hemmings motor news and see if you can find any front clips for sale.

I can't imagine demand being high, but someone who wants one probably wants to pay a decent amount for one.

Why would you want to make a Mustang look like a VW kit car?
