I am a bit confused on the current status of the ability to order the convertible.

1. Can you make an order now?
2. Can I expect to be quoted a price by a dealer?
3. Could I expcet to make an order for a GT convertible with the IUP? If not, what is a projection of when this might be possible?

and finally,

4. In general what month could someone expect to get the vehicle? March?

I am asking these questions for a family member that has taken a big interest in buying an 05 convertible. He apparently approached a dealer this past weekend and was told by the salesman that he pretty much could not order the car yet due to the issues with the IUP. I figured I would ask directly the best source I know of....

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can order the vehicle now, I've got 3 sold already. It will show with a material hold at this point. There is no pricing available, but you could make an agreement now. We have sold ours at invoice, whatever that turns out to be. You won't know the number yet but you can agree to what it will be based on. Currently, it doesn't matter if you order it with IUP or not they aren't building them yet so it will be on hold either way. No official word on timing yet.

Go for it. By the time the Vert shows in January, I would expect Ford to be swamped with orders. My order was accepted by Ford (DORA) Novenmber 1st and I am not at the head of the line by a long shot.

One warning, ...once you order you get real anxious.

If you have decided on the vert the best thing to do is order now. The longer you wait to order the lower you are on the wait list nationwide. I ordered mine November 6th with no price available but estimate it probably will be 4-5K over same options on a coupe and those prices are easily available.

Check with your dealer to see how many other verts he has already ordered to make sure there are no allocation problems before you order.

I'm first in line at my dealer but sure not near first nationwide though. I'm hoping for a March delivery.

Thanks folks! This has been very helpful. I have a feeling once I get to the right dealer this baby will get ordered before the first of the year. Its not even gonna be mine and I'm excited!!
