1966 engine change

I'm thinking about picking up a 66 with a 4cyl. I want to take it out and drop in a 302 with trans I have. I would like to know if it can be done. How much work is involved.

It probably can be done, if you're as smart as the guy who figured out how to put the 4 cyl. in the '66.

Heh, cute. I was gonna say something about that too.

Yes, the 6 to 8 conversion can happen, and that just takes a google session with this search:

1966 Mustang 6 to 8 conversion

You will have a plethora of pages to look at.

The main things are these:

*Complete* V8 suspension replacement, front and back.
Motor mounts, transmission mounts.
Motor, transmission, driveshaft, axle, and all things thereto to make that happen.
Radiator
Keep the 5 lug V8 drums on the back.
Convert to 5 lug V8 discs in front, either get a mid 70s Granada/Marquis/Versaille 'spindle out' with the calipers, or get a conversion kit.

It's not cheap. But it's not hard, it's all, for the most part, bolt in stuff that you can get. And it is not quick.

And above all, it is NOT TO BE CORNER CUTTING. Like using the I6 suspension and steering, nor their inferior drum setup. Do it right, or don't bother.

Other than that, have fun!
